Great pic Voador...thanks for puting that together. If the Spirit of the Brotherhood doesn't live on in the band, it does live on with us fans.
Mitch
Dan, was wondering the exact same thing!!! I mean, is that in dog years??
I don't think I'll live that long to see the next Dickey show.(from the home page)
Only 365199 days, 19 hours, 39 minutes until the next concert
Thanks so much Voader for posting and for your efforts!!!

You just said it best, Nic.
Red Dog WAS the brotherhood. We were holding on to his love for the music, his memories, the fact that he was a good man to begin with and stayed that way throughout all the Allman Brothers Band trials and tribulations. Despite his being fired after 30 years of dedicated service, he was still loyal.
With Red Dog gone, I feel as if the brotherhood has gone to heaven with him.
He epitomized all that was good and he will always be loved for that.
Thank you :dog:. We'll always love you for the man you were and for what you stood for.
Semper fi.
Hey Now from beautiful Jacksonville Beach the place it all began for Pam & I 37 years ago. 😎 It is nice to be back!! We are enjoying the weather Rick and traveling safe Steve. Thanks for thinking of us.
RedDog was the Brotherhood. I will miss him. RIP Brother. Peach.
It is comforting to see that Red Dog is still the main focus of our Guest Book here.
When you look closely at what's happened with the band over the past 40 years, you see incredible music but also incredible sadness and loss. You see pivotal people who made the band famous and kept the band a functioning business tossed by the wayside (Phil and Willie), you see band members with overwhelming drug and alcohol problems, you see Dickey tossed away because he just continued to party the way everyone did in the past and when the rest of the band "cleaned up", he was supposed to do the same or take the highway. You see Red Dog go through numerous back problems and surgeries from lugging heavy equipment way past the time a normal man should be doing that kind of work standing up for Dickey's right to be a band member fired after 30 years of busting his ass for very little pay. But then you go back to the music, and you forget about this crap.
And nobody talks about Kirk anymore. If he did anything underhanded to warrant his sudden dismissal, no one knows but still no one ever gave him the kudos he should have received for keeping the band going year after year. You see greed, selfishness, and resentments galore.
And, then you go back and listen to the music and think that it's just too bad all that personal hurt had to go along with it. People were disposable.
Sad.
But, then you go back and listen to the music...
Nice post Rick and to echo your thoughts one person has decimated the band and Red Dog's essance will live here and with us forever. Reddog was the bridge from fan to band. Dickey and him must have been a hell've a force together.
....ahhh the desire of Red Dog and the "event"...
There was an emotional rollercoaster if there ever was, that Beacon run, with Red Dog being the consumate bridge builder, only to see the reality behind the hype; Claude leveraging the event to promote Moogis.
Red Dog used the term selling woof tickets....spot on.
RD wanted a church service. We discussed it at length....he, like many, simply wanted to be a fan aboard the cosmic train with the remaining members playing their asses off.
Once he realized the truth behind the so-called Betts "invite", I'm of the opinion it broke his heart intially. But even RD could see what the ABB had become; a cash cow cover band with the "O"'s in MOOGIS serving as glory holes for Claude's retirement pursuits.
And let's not forget; Dickey showed a lot of class during that time. And that was confirmed by Doggie.
RD had a pure heart in regards to the ABB's music and Brotherhood....I learned a lot just by reading into his words. And over the years, as his musings took more of an introspective look into Brotherhood, I came to respect he and his kind, i.e. those that were around in the early days and stayed true to Duane's core.
Yep, the man is in a better place today. And rarely would a roadie propel to a position of respect in a band fan page, but then again, we're talking about love of the music and Brotherhood rather than drum tech stuff and road warrior stories.
My opinions, your perspectives may vary....goodnight.

Well I will always hold out the hope for a reunion. I think it can still happen and if it happens without the little drummer boy that would be ok by me.
ChrisR,
That was his true "roadie spirit" wishing for them to reunite...
A roadie...long hours, hard work, low pay & the best seat in the house when the music starts...
I just watched the Cameron Crowe commentary video of Almost Famous. He says of Red Dog...,"he's probably gonna end up in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."
It is now time for this campaign to begin. My question is who will pick up this sword and lead the charge!?....INDUCT RED DOG INTO THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME!!
One of the things that I regret regarding Red Dog, is that he always hoped that the band would re-unite. That never happened, even for a jam. Even though he was wronged, when he was tossed out, he always hoped the four core members would play again.
