To those that have had the honor to jaw with Betts one on one away from the crowds. Then you know what a deep soul & spirit the man has.As i said before, the memories, thoughts & stories runnin thru that mind would blow the normal mind into a zillion particles. The man is very intelligent in ways most can't or couldn't understand. The comparison between the current ABB & Betts band is 2 different worlds. And there shouldn't be a comparison.Dickey has gone deeper than most would even dare to tread. And if i happen to catch a night where the demons are hovering all around, well so be it!And if i'm fortunate enough to catch a gig where he's off in the cosmos ,runnin with the spirits & angels, well brother man it don't get no better. So many expect and want a Dickey Betts that has sown his wild oats & is now ready to sit at the supper table all primped & proper.AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN FOLKS!Dickey lives the life he loves and loves the life he lives. No matter how many mud puddles, barb wired snagged knees, side wayed blood shot eyes, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest looks he gets on his face.Or the many times Change My Way Of Livin comes ringin thru loud & clear. The man at 66 still travels into the lions territory with a smile on his face. And if he awakes the lion, then Betts will face him with his stare. Anyone ever thought that maybe he really wasn't up to or into goin back on the road at this time?Maybe he did it cause he knew the band needed a jingle in their pocket to help out with bills they have,& are struggling to meet.Like i said Betts has & is walkin the walk & talkin the talk that few of us could even muster about attempting to do.Whatever the outcome of the recent gigs.I'm still thankful the man is out there ramblin. And that people were able to get together & see one another again. This crazy world we're livin in has gotta lotta minds fried out these daze. And don't think for one minute it hasn't got inside Dickeys mind as well. Thats all i'm sayin! RedDog,we all got ya on our minds bro.Keepin the faith the news will be GOOD this afternoon!Like Betts ,you carry & have lived dreams & walked thru the valley of death many times. And i'm very grateful i had the chance to hang out with ya a few times. And ya felt like rappin some lines at the kitchen table.Tween you & Betts, they could open a library of congress of tales.

Even though the show on Fri. was less than we hoped and expected, it was Worth It!!! To see again the friends that I have made through the years was priceless! Remember, last Dec. , we all thought we would never see these brothers and sisters again. This was another chance to meet up again. I, for one am a strong believer in second chances. What a group! Cap'n , Island Blossom, Rainy, Liz, Jim King, Mitch & wife, NYCBarb & hubby, Kimberely, Carlos, Rich, Andy, Pedro,Duane, Mikey, James, Frankie, and Mr. Betts! Whew! Even saw Donna at the Waldorf. Was it a great night? You BETTS!

Capn, thank you my brother. I have a 3:45 appointment today. Hope he has the results from the exploratory surgery.

Vacation is over, back to work.... What a wonderful trip this has been. A few disappointments perhaps, but for the most part I had nothing but FUN! 3 Great shows, all from widely different perspectives. I am just so happy that Dickey chose to hit the road again, even if only once or twice a year. Was great to see Moongrass and Island Blossom, Rainy, Liz, Nancy and Kay It's a lonesome road and a hard way to live, but it's the only life that I know... ya meet a lot of people, traveling around... but home is always the best place to go.

Mednight, I am glad you have to ability to look someone in the eye and know all. Were you using X-ray vision? If it was more than heat and cut finger, then enlighten us as to what you saw. Maybe you should grow a couple, then you might not have to use word to make false impressions. You just might be able to say what is on your mind. Some advice. Don't buy a ticket. That might be to simple for your simple mind.

Monday morning quote of the day.... Before you post, you should know what went down... Advice well given... taken, not so sure... Sometimes it pays to listen to your own advice , ramble...

So much for having front row seats in front of DB ..wish there was a way to scan who sits there.....LOL..... Monday morning back around.. Red Doggie... one week ago... onto the next... I hope you are getting relief and stronger every day... It is my wish for you... I dropped my favorite coffee cup , of course full of coffee... bad start to a Monday morning... made me pissy... it's ok ... only one way to go... up... Have a great day :sunny: I posted this in forum... ramble.. yes, there was nasty CUT on his RING left finger, he was having what most were having in there a HEAT Stroke.... he is gonna be 67.... the heat was a bit much for most of us ... I saw this from my front row left seat... If you were directly in front of him you were one of the two handsome guys sitting there, in fact one of you looked like Jackson Brown, to young I decided but perhaps his son ????????? that is who was sitting directly in front of Dickey.... Is that you? Panicked is a word you would use to describe him.... tsk tsk.... I think not.. OH MAN>.. yes, bad notes, saw him drop pick, all related to injury... they always have a break... the short one was acceptable with all that was happening to his injury. Do you read GB at all... Red Dog has posted there about sound checks at venues , you ought to go take a look and read it... you don't need front row seats for that. Although I can not say for all but..... I got up right away and was dancing.... until I became over come with the heat.. then I would sit... and then jump up again.... That is the same at most shows... some people just like to sit and enjoy the music that way, and lots of time the venue police ruin for all fans... keeping people down... You've been to how many DBGS shows ?? Sorry you felt compelled to putting a suspicious spin on things...

Being on the road brings the big bad wolf out of the woods. The scheduled shows are over, so it's probably back in it's den by now.

I grew up in North Miami and witnessed many shows since 69 where Dickey blew the roof off the house. I'm almost as old as Dickey and chatted with him many times over the years. I wish Dickey the best. I've learned a valvable lesson on this web site. Do not speak your mind unless you want to be attacked by some fool.

As RedDog pointed out about Betts bein a perfectionist.Ya add on to that the heat factor, his finger bein cut, etc.I'm sure and can imagine Dickey bein on edge & aggitated.I have a lotta respect for Betts. Both as a person & as a legendary musician. The mans mind & heart is filled with travels & thoughts that'd blow a normal persons brain into the cosmos. And i'm sure he was geared to give the folks at all shows their moneys worth. But sh*t happens as we all know.To catch the man when he has his mojo & chops right where he wants them,is nothing short of a magic run into Lord of the Rings. Then the nights when too many rabid wolves have circled the wagon.Well ya just have to look past the dust & knotches in the wagon wheel, lay back,& just be thankful the cat in the hat is still ramblin down Hwy 41. I know a lotta folks were countin on a blow the roof off gig.But just like you & me.Some daze are just a damm clusterfu*k. RedDog,hope your restin easy brother man. From the sound of the gig comin up in Macon. It's gonna be as big as the dern Grammy's.Ya might have to slip into a pair of them hundred dollar jeans & get dropped off by a long, gray limosiune. *Courtesy of Angeline*

Good old Sunday evening to everyone. I see things are still being bantered about. It's to be expected. But like I've said before, friendships that have been made because of Dickey's wonderful music are as important as the music itself. His music has brought us here together. There's no price tag you can put on that. I've been blessed with many friends from this site, so I have no complaints. Also want to let our Red Dog know that I'm thinking of him as usual and sending love and comfort. JK - some special love and good vibes to you as well.

All the best and peace to you Red Dog Capn, it was great meeting you for the first time on friday, a real class person and hope to see you again down the road. Thank you Dickey for bringing your band to town on friday and with that bad cut on your finger you still gave it your best and I loved it. As I'm telling eveyone about the show on friday I tell them It was like Dickey in the ring with muhammed ali and Dickey knocked him out..no problem. Thats how good he still was. So thanks again Dickey and I hope you come back soon. all the best & peace.

you know what my friend Muddy Waters said. Red Dog there's another dog barking in the dog house. He changed that around to fit me. It came from his song Long Distance Call. Where he says, Muddy, Muddy Water's, there an other mule a kicking in your stall. I love that song. I loved the way he said, Red Dog, I loved the man even more.

Sound might have been effected by the band playing to loud. Sound check does not always happen. Sound men, a lot of time have to fly by the seat of their pants. Everything can work great at a sound check and then a few hours later the gig starts and the sound decided to go south. It is all electronics and anything can happen. Things can change in a New York second, just when you think it all O K. Then it ant. I was not there so its hard to in point, but usually its what I just said.

Last nite in Norwalk was a beautiful nite with a beautiful water breeze finally cooling the air while the music soothed our souls and took me to a higher place where the gods live when I listen to the music of DB&GS...better than going to church! A beautiful full moon beaming down across the water... Thank you to Dickey, Band, Crew for working your butts off in this intolerable heat all week long and bringing your magic music to us all...Love, Kimberly
