After sorting out some of my belongings...I found a copy of the DB&GS at the Albany Egg 7/15/05... No disrespect to the current lineup but I feel this was the best supporting cast for Dickey with just Duane and Twinkle in the band... The sound was perfect and the set list is one that makes you want hop in your car and tear it up down a 2 lane highway away from all this congestion and confusion on the NY roads... For those of you who haven't heard of Jimmy Lafave from Austin, Texas.. check out a song of his called "The Open Road" on his "Trail" CD one of my favorites... I helped load up the equipment trailer after the show and had a discussion with one of the roadies about the amp Duane was using that nite...crisp, clean and burning leads from Duane with some great vocals from Twinkle, who brought an energy to the band that I enjoyed... Is she still peforming and playing music these days? I believe the amp or the head was one of Dickey's original amps which was customized by the roadies from the original band... After listening to the show yesterday, I'd have to rank this as one of my top 5 concerts... Twinkle was kind enough to put me on the guest list at Asbury Park and I also caught the show in West Hampton and Mexacali Blues which I have pictures of, which I haven't looked at since... My life started to unravel the following year with conflicts at work and family drama...ending up in jail... Listening to this show brought me back to a peaceful year in my life... Anyone who was disappointed with the show in NYC this past week, PM me and I'll burn this show with Dickey at the top of his game... He starts off the show "We're gonna have a little town meeting tonight" The photo on the cover of the CD released on the guestbook was the one I took of "The Egg" before the show... I'm still desigining my "Blue Sky" t-shirt for the regulars on the guestbook and hope to have it finished in a week or two... We finally got a break in the oppressive weather in NY! Sting is playing at The Jones Beach Nikon Theater tonight with the Philharmonic Orchestra... I can't afford the ticket prices, however if the wind blows in a certain direction you can hear the show just fine sittin in the parking lot... 7 days and a wake up before I leave for Nashville and and find a pawn shop guitar and start writing some songs again after a long layoff...

I used to live right there at the seven mile bridge. My Dad and Uncle Tom built the first subdivision there in Marathon. I went to school when there were first grade students to the sixth students set in rows in one room, seventh to tenth in an other room, eleventh and twelfth in another room. A three room school house. I like that picture. Some good childhood memories came back. I learned to swim there. Surprise last night one of my brothers popped in from Fl. Brother R C. He is the brother that got Calihan out of trouble in Jacksonville when he was drunk and hit a car with the truck in the load in area. R C just happened to pull up, as they were putting the Mander in the police car, to take him to jail. It was good timing on R C part that he showed up to see me at that time. I should say, good timing for Mike. I told R C what had happened and that Mike was loaded. He went over and talked the other officers and they let Mike go. Another good day on the road, or one that was interesting. It seemed like in the pioneering years there was some kind of excitement every day. Always a crises. One hell of a good ride.

Tried to log on last night but I guess the server was down. Probably would have kept me up too late anyway. I'm hoping the pictures from Friday night have made their way to Jim so he can get them up here as soon as possible. Funny, the show was less than stellar on Friday, but I really don't give a hoot in the least bit. Just being together with good friends and hearing some Betts was plenty for me. I keep my expectations low and disappointment is kept at bay. RD, hanging in for your Wednesday appt. What Capn said is true; if the news was horrendous, you would've been in there, big time surgery for the Doc or not. I've got all this "stuff" I'm supposed to do which entails a lot of buses and waiting in lines (on lines?). I just don't have the energy for it today. Gonna organize my papers (oh, the mounds!) and make a try for my next day off. Trying to get a few pennies from the government is like getting blood from a rock. I'd like to get on a train (to another train) to go to the beach (no lines) but I have a girlfriend coming over at 3. Wish I hadn't made ANY plans. The ole brain is not able to handle too much at any one time right now - it's so full of STUFF. Had a major meltdown at my Monday evening getittogether meeting and realized I'm dealing with a whopping case of PTSD. Thank God for God and true friends.

Red Dog, a saying in the medical industry is "no news is good news..." that is... if they found something terribly wrong they would NOT DELAY your follow up care they would have called you to come in days ago... chances are the doc DOES have a patient who is more serious than you and so he went first... rationing medical care has been the course for years... it's called TRIAGE hang in there br'er you're gonna lick this I promise

22, Do you know Joe Mc Glohon the musician? He plays in Nashville and was with Reba, I think he was the band director for a while. Lucky for him He was not on the plane that day. Lucky for me also. I would have been bummed out if something happened to him. Nic and Mitch I sure hope you guys are doing great. Big Daddy Dan its your day brother. Picture of Duane is hanging on my wall and it's going to stay there. I love it. I look at it every morning as I am having my wake up juice.

Thanks, voador Due to family illness and the stress of living in N.Y. I quit playing guitar and songwriting after my mother died December 15, 2003. My father almost died in February but thanks to my sister's round the clock care, like I did for my mom he is doing much better. The last song I had published was in 2000, "The Six String Church of Hank" written with my good friend and mentor Chris Gantry...who wrote " Dreams of the Everyday Housewife" for Glen Cambell. I hope to be back in NAshville for the month of August writing with Chris Gantry and playing guitar with Steve Upfold, originally from Orange County California, Tulsa-Oklahoma, Austin- Texas and Nashville, Tn. one of the best unheard of guitar players around! Send him some healing vibes on his Facebook account because he almost lost his life due to mouth cancer...which claimed George Harrison's life... Also , please post on myspace/steveabadie what songs you like or dis-like since it's been inactive since 2007 after ending up in jail...And I'll work on re-writing any aprt of the songs that need work...Nothin but the Fever!

As promised, I will be posting old photographs I took at concerts while in high school and just after graduation. I have pictures of Led Zep @ MSG from 1977, The Outlaws with Henry Paul @ Hofstra University and pics of the Jerry Garcia Band with John Kahn @ The Calderone Concert Hall... I have to change the format from PDF to jpeg's in order to post on the guestbook. When I moved to Nashville in 1995, I lived with another songwriter named Pam O'Daniel on Charllotte Pike in Nashville, Tn. I took a walk to the post office on Charllotte Pike and a guy drove in an old cadillac convertible...he looked familiar and found out it was Henry Paul originally from the Outlaws and at the time with the group Blackhawk. I told him, I sat in the front row at Hofstra...and he handed me a bottle of green Jack Daniels from the stage...and he whinced at the thought of shots of J.D. How concert going has changed when fans rip an artist for having a beer and smoking a cigarette onstage... Henry remembered the concert at Hofstra because there was a big fight back stage...as me and my friends used to say..."it wasn't me that jumped in that fight, it was Jack Daniels"... As soon as I'm able to change formats, I'll share the pics of Led Zep, The Outlaws and Jerry with anyone on Dickey's guestbook before posting them on my myspace/steveabadie or Facebook account. The last time I saw Stevie Ray Vaughn play was at Hofstra...and I could tell he was struggling with his addictions at the time...I didn't go see him the next time he came around because his playing was off at Hofstra compared to when I first saw him perform at My Father's Place... I knew someone who went to see him at Jones Beach in support of the "In Step" record and said Stevie played so good that nite he cried... A week or two later Stevie died...I don't know if these are the facts relating to Stevie's passing, but I heard he decided to take the helicopter back to Chicago instead of driving the next day because he wanted to get back to Austin to see his girlfriend? In Eric Clapton's biography there is a few paragraph's about the fact the pilot was wiping off the windshield with a t-shirt inside the cockpit due to the fog that nite... Life's too short, enjoy it while you can...there is no guarantee there is a tommorrow. R.I.P. SRV Dickey-enjoy your summer, play some golf and go fishin'... I hope your finger heals soon and I catch a show down the road with my "Blue Sky" t-shirts ready for the DB&GS guestbook regulars...
