The Congressman did make a generous contribution to the Red Dog Benefit Fund. You might want to thank him for that and ask for this little additional help in getting the VA to cough up the OK for Augie to get the care he deserves. Remember, those of you who can vote for him carry the most weight, so if he's your Congressman, it's especially important that you put in your 2 cents. PEACH POLITICS AND PRAYER!!

I've been through bureaucracy hell lately for a lot less important things....if we all make a push, we can unstick that red tape. Capn is right, Augie, that port shouldn't hurt like that. Even without the go ahead to put anything through it, go make them adjust it. And ditto what he said about the pain meds too. We're all pulling for you. Please just keep us posted so we know how we can help. I know we'd all do it for each other. This is a lesson in love for all of us.

Red Dog, the nurse is correct, that PEG tube should not be so painful... it may be dislodged or placed improperly, please get that checked out... so sorry to read of your discomfort and hassles with "The System"... also remind them that you may need higher levels of pain medication due to opiate history... (tolerance)...nothing to be ashamed of, but very important when it comes to "titrating" your effective therapeutic level... pain control is a very important part of your care. The VA can in fact be extremely helpful too, once you are able to effectively "Navigate the System" Best wishes for minimal trauma during this tough time... See if Mama Louise can cook some vittles that will fit through that PEG... luvya lots br'er - Cap'n

Hey RedDog. I rememeber wondering if I was able going to get healed up and putting up with all the pain. Hang in there Brother. That is best thing I can say to you. When I was in the hospital for surgery I remember I had new insurance four days previous and was all freaked out about that. I was making phone calls to the insurance company right from the bed the day following the surgery making sure my Dr's were in the plan. Each new Dr came with a $100 copay and I had lot's of Dr's. Hell they even tried to enroll me in a sleep study and my gut was killing me. I said hell no to that!! I felt like hanging a sign on the door to my room stating "If you are a Dr and are just coming in here to chat, stay out"!! Each time a new Dr walked into the room the cash register rang. The end result was I was cured of both cancers!!! That is all that matters Brother. The fight and all the hassel was well worth it in the end. I have been living this for 32 months. Pam & I are coming to GABBA this year for lots of reasons, but the main one is hopefully to visit you RedDog. Please let me know if you need anything from us!! Keep the Faith Brother!! Peach.
