I agree, whatever the reason, it was business driven as to why Dickey cancelled the gig in Macon.

Jimmie, unfortunately Dickey's appearance in Macon next month has been cancelled.
....just want Dickey Betts to know by coming back to Macon Ga, where it all began, that your heart is of gold in my book cause you are really doing this "for the people" which is the soul of the Allman Brothers roots. Listening and jammin out to your tunes for many moons. Had the pleasure of meeting you a couple times. If you would headline your Brother Duane's benefit one of these Thanksgivings, probably would have another Phoenix Rising from the Ashes. Peace be with you and always know that conquers all things.

Would hope many of you help show your support for Duane and make it to the Jam for Duane. This is the 'once-a-year' event that helps keep the spirit of the music Duane started alive. Lots of folks work very hard to have this event, at their own time and expense. The proceeds go to pay performers, venue, equipment, security, printing, advertising, ect.
This will be 35 years and counting this event has honored the music and legacy of Duane Allman. Come be a part of the celebration.

Hey folks. Long see, no time! Hope things are well in DB&GS land. I was really looking forward to seeing Dickey and the boys in Macon on 11/6, but maybe some other time. Meanwhile, GABBA had their wrap up meeting following this years hugely successful GABBAfest 2011. As we do every year after GABBAfest, we choose our benefactors, and our major benefactor this year is Dangerous Dan Toler. GABBA was blessed to have Dan in Macon with The Toler-Townsend Band for GABBAfest 2010. He's a giant of a musician, but has such a gentle spirit and always has a smile on his face. We loved having him and the TTB in Macon last year. Life is a highway and it's full of twists and turns, and when we heard about Dan's ALS diagnosis, we knew we had to help. So, GABBA is sending Dan a check to help with his expenses. -=DDT=- We love you and have you in our hearts and prayers. God bless you. God bless us all.

He is just like us make mistakes everyday. None of us are perfect and we dont know why humans do the things we do... I will always have his back.. atleast he tries... deep down we dont really know what happened either now or in the past.. Just jumping to conclusions is not right.. Well, there use to be a poster by the name of Hemlock.. he had some really good posts, but like this newer person always had a nasty insulting edge to the people here and over on ABB ..he usually only posted in GB's.. he also was known by many and was at quite a few shows..
He became so insulting on here and threatening to many .. but , we have someone here who does not post as much these days but I still think he checks in daily .. he is a pc wiz and can find out anything about anyone... I am sure he has already investigated this person and when the time is right.. will spill the beans.. and put them in their rightful place.. and stop the havoc.. Hemlock went down like a ton a bricks and hasn't returned...unless of course as another person...

So, went back to work yesterday and I swear it is like you never left.. a very busy day.. but right back in the swing of things.. Oh how I love my vacation time..
Andy A was playing around by a close town this past weekend.... I was not
here to go see him and his band the Groove Kings..hopefully he'll be back around soon.. always a great night of music.

Since quite a few of us are getting nasty PM's, I suggest we all call Mr. Spero (Jim posted his # but I'll do it again 216-381-5544 X2) and advise him that this is creating a very unpleasant experience on Dickey's site where everyone is friends with one another and when we disagree, we do so respectfully.
Jim, please double check the number and we can also coordinate an approximate time so our calls come the same day. This is a sweet and loving place for us regulars and we don't have to put up with all this nasty negativity.

That would make sense as the venue site doesn't seem pleased:-(
