http://www.gabba.org/ GABBAfest is Oct 26-28 and the this years theme is 20/40 - Twenty years of GABBA and Forty years of Eat A Peach! That oughta be plenty enough time for everybody here to make plans for a crash at the Cox. Anybody got a Amen for that?

Great pics, Brock. It was very nice to meet you and everyone else. Plenty to do and see in Macon. I'm hoping I will be able to come back for GABBAFEST. I really enjoyed the Cox an awful lot. It's hard to imagine a better place to see a show with friends.

Enjoyed meeting Tennkev, Nic and Pintobean. Good times guys! I had never seen Mr Toler before, so given his condition, I did not know what to expect. Whatever he has lost in his condition, his playing sure ain't it! Just beautiful, and obviously played with great emotion last night. I have always had a fantasy of hiring the ABB to do a private concert for its online fans if I ever won the lottery. Last night felt quite close to the great "family" atmosphere my dream imagines. Since I don't even play the lottery, this was as close as it'll ever get. A nice reality it was. I put some photos here, since posting photos on the GB seems beyond my abilities: http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=XForum&file=viewthread&tid=121680&page=2

Hey FrankieBootleg. I have a message for you from Danny. He said the gift you gave him is one of the nicest gifts he has ever received. I feel the same way. Thank you very much Brother from both of us!!! I would like to thank the folks that helped make Pam and my weekend great. Some generous folks were very kind to Pam and I and we very much appreciate your gift. Several folks also reached a little deeper in their pockets and gave some extra $$$ to Danny. The proclamation Willie Perkins read from the Big House for Danny was incredible. I doubt there was a dry eye in the house. Very moving to experience it. Danny Toler is such an inspiration. He has this huge battle and he just keeps on smiling. The closing tune for the night from Wet Willie was Keep On Smiling and it was very appropiate for the night. The next time you think you have problems just think about ddt and it may lighten you load a little. We had an incredible weekend. Thanks to all of you who played a part in it. Peach.

I've been in Nirvana since last Thursday. Started off with a perfect trip to Mt Pleasant - played a great little gig in an ideal setting on Thursday and then Friday, my wife and I headed to Macon, there to meet so many incredibly nice guestbook friends for the first time, seeing all the great landmarks of Macon, and culminating in an amazing night of magic with Dan Toler playing flawlessly to my ears and paired up with another of the best guitarists I will ever see - Barry Richmond. Thanks so much to my good friends, bluedad and BDOB for taking the time to give me personal tours full of insights throughout Macon and the Big House. This GB family really is a treasure trove of fantastic people and I am certain to be going to a lot more events to see everyone I've met and meet more of you great folks! Thanks to everyone for making this a great weekend!

Love this quotation from our Dreamy Lady... "I want to wish everybody whose gonna be "home" in Macon this weekend a wonderful time, safe travels, and remember to stop once in awhile and just feel the vibe, remember what it was like back in the day (even if you weren't there - it's so strong, your imagination won't have any problem). " I was never there "Back in the day" but I have been there umpteen times since ( I almost never drive by w/o stopping ) So true about "Feel the Vibe" ... it truly lives on all these years later. :yep:

The other site has a number of folks that apparently are glad Dickey Betts is gone from the ABB. The ABB would never have survived if it were not for Mr. Betts talent and determination. I have been lucky to catch DB&GS a few times and felt their music was closer to the true ABB sound than the current ABB lineup. The current ABB does have some talented folks but without Betts it just has never been the same. The man has a real skillset musically and has always nailed pitch and tone. Sure he's older and time may have wore on him a little but it has also polished him and his craft as well. I personally would rather catch him in concert than the ABB. The old road dog can still bend those strings and construct solos with the finest. The Greenville show a couple of years ago was as good as it gets. Would be thrilled for them to hit The Handlebar again. We should be thankful for all the good music Mr. Betts has given us and maybe lucky enough to catch a few more shows. Dickey Betts had to be the frontman at a time when the ABB had been dealt a heavy blow. The remaining original members probably wouldn't be as fortunate musically if Dickey hadn't carried the torch. It had to be an enormous weight to carry on with Duane gone. This isn't meant to degrade the other members but merely to point out a obvious fact. Betts plays with a lot of heart and soul. Original since 69.
