Nice to see Derek Trucks saying nice things about Dickey. Bet he was one of the two brothers who called Dickey from the grammys. I agree with Derek. It is time for them to bury the hatchet. This has gone on way too long. Gregg actually said he thought Dickey would call him while he was in the hospital recovering from his liver operation so my hunch is it's Butch Trucks who is the main stumbling block. Butch Trucks may have been the big reason Dickey decided to opt out of going to LA. The room may not have been larger enough for Dickey to be in with Butch in there too. I'm sure Derek Trucks & Warren Haynes felt embarrassed getting those awards without Dickey as they are very aware of the fact that the Allman Brother's recording career would not be deserving of a lifetime achievement award without the contribution of Dickey Betts, yet Gregg, Jaimoe & Butch NEVER mentioned Dickey at all. It was left to newer members of the current version of the band to do the right thing & acknowledge what all fans KNOW & that is Dickey Betts contributed as much to the success of the band as Gregg Allman and MORE than Butch Trucks & Jaimoe.
Just read an article about Gary Moore who died at age 58 just over a year ago in Spain that his death was sadly caused by excessive alcohol consumption. Moore's bloodstream had 30 mg more booze in it that usually causes cardiac collapse & death & was FIVE times the level of being too drunk to drive!!
What in the hell was he putting down that much booze for? That is crazy!!
Gary Moore wasn't real famous but if you go to YouTube and type in "Gary Moore Red House" and listen to the way Moore absolutely kills Jimi Hendrix's Red House, I swear I think his version his HOTTER than what Jimi could do himself. Moore has a killer version of Stormy Monday on YouTube also. You can almost see smoke & fire coming off that old red Fender Stratocaster he is using!
Gary Moore could SMOKE a damn electric guitar as well as anybody I've ever heard.
What an AWESOME video Rainy!!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!! Was really neat to hear a touch of Blue Sky in there as well!!!! Man....brother Duane's spirit still in that thing!!! 🙂
Whoops, Rainy, that should've read "having her girl NEAR is a big plus..."

Yo' Brother Nic.................PM headed your way.
Rainy, dear friend, you are going to HAVE to visit Macon before this lifetime comes to an end. When's it gonna be?
I am praying for your Mom and hoping she's gonna be OK. Ditto for Jim's Dad.
So happy things are looking good for Nic.
I want to wish everybody whose gonna be "home" in Macon this weekend a wonderful time, safe travels, and remember to stop once in awhile and just feel the vibe, remember what it was like back in the day (even if you weren't there - it's so strong, your imagination won't have any problem).
Love to all my friends here. I am blessed to know all of you.
One eye open and remember that springtime glitter is in the air. :dog:

I have that Woody shirt on in that pix. That shirt is a story in itself. Our room here has a pix of the Capitol and Douglas Theaters hanging on the wall. How cool is that???? 😎
I hope you go to the Beacon and have way to much fun Lizzie. I hope you party like it's 1999!!!! Peach
With Spring in the air, I woke up with the urge to go to the Beacon this year. Only lousy single seats available (even through good circles).
Anybody got a spare miracle for two (me and my supervisor - LOL)?
Prayers still going out to Mr.King Sr. (I know what you mean about doctors doing more harm than good) and Rainy's mom. When is that show, Rainy? I am in dire need of some Betts
Y'all have a great time in Macon and give my buddy WHP a YO for me.

Safe travels to all going to Macon this weekend for DDT...ya'll are a great bunch!!
If you all can wait to eat until you get to the Cox Sat, do so. A Macon eatery, Good to Go, serves there and it is dee-lish southern food. I had BBQ last time and it was real good.
Still have my one ticket for front row center table 3, and will sell it for $20, the price of a GA balcony seat. PM me if interested.
Here's hoping for some quality guests!
Great news Nic! See you Saturday.
Don't know how many might already have seen this beautiful tribute by Vince Gill to the ABB playing Duane's gold top in Macon, but here it is. Vince's beautiful closing solo has teases to Blue Sky and Jessica as well as being flavored with other familiar riffs by the band. Almost brought me to tears.

So very grateful for the wonderful news for Nic and also keeping Jim and Rainy close in my thoughts.
Today I am fortunate to be able to play with my longtime musical partner, Mike Cammarata, for about 45 friends of my uncle at a gathering outside on the loading dock of the Wreck, in Mt Pleasant, SC, a great seafood restaurant right on Shem Creek lined with shrimp trawlers, sea gulls, and pelicans, and tomorrow it's off to where it all begins in Macon.
Life is grand! Blessings abound!
