I agree Bruce! :yep: I actually like that Dickey is talking more here lately. He is a pretty quiet guy so this is pretty special. Hopefully he will continue! šŸ˜Ž

ā€œBut human nature is you work shoulder to shoulder in a real emotional kind of setting and there are jealousies that come up. There’s resentment and resentment turns to just outright bad things. And that’s what happened.ā€ Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall to see how it all REALLY went down...

Nice interview with Dickey.... Here is a part of it. Dickey Betts on his days before, with and after Allman Brothers: interview This week, after performing several shows in New York City, Gregg Allman and the rest of the current Allman Brothers announced their retirement. Betts is glad to see the ā€œAllman Brothers Bandā€ name put to rest. During a two-hour interview, though, he praises Jaimoe and Butch Trucks’ drumming and says Gregg has a ā€œgolden voice.ā€ ā€œBut I think the Allman Brothers made a big mistake when they started eating their young,ā€ Betts says when asked about the surviving original members’ decision to fire him. ā€œBut human nature is you work shoulder to shoulder in a real emotional kind of setting and there are jealousies that come up. There’s resentment and resentment turns to just outright bad things. And that’s what happened.ā€ Thanks Mark02! I absolutely agree that Dickey had been over served but it did little to diminish the performance of a 70 year old legend whose unique and identifiable guitar sound reminded me why I fell in love with the ABB many many years ago!

Went and and saw typical Dickey last night....and he was being his typical Dickey self. Giving his time & talent so some kids who might not otherwise eat a good meal on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and have a couple toys to play with like other kids who might not be stuck in such a desperate situation. Tapping his heart as he told everyone who came how much he appreciated all who where there...for taking the time, and spending their hard earned cash, for such a great cause. Going on a drunken political ramble by saying..."a lot of people died so you could vote, so go out and vote. I don't care WHO you vote for...just vote" Taking his time, even though he collected no money himself for the show he just did, to talk and sign for fans waiting to see him after the free gig. Gregg does that stuff twice on lots of Sunday's.... Then...to have to listen to....the tone of that guitar. It all just sucked....:-D

Thank you for completing last nights setlist for me fanfrom71. Fortunately I was very close to the stage so I had an excellent vantage point to make many observations. If I may ask what did you think about the show?

Good ole Sunday morning bells are ringing everywhere.......Still "glowing" from last nights overall display of outstanding musicianship from Dickey Betts & Great Southern and all of the special guests. It was a magical experience from beginning until the end. If anyone can complete the setlist for me it would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Went and saw a great tribute band last night. The band played a lot of songs the ABB did... They only played songs by the former long time lead guitarist of the ABB, but the guy looked..and more importantly....SOUNDED just like Dickey Betts! 😮

If you ever get the opportunity to check out Kimberly Betts' Gamble Creek Band definetely do yourself a favor and go see them. I guarantee you that you will not be diappointed. The mood and vibe in the arena was fabulous and it was all for a wonderful charity of under priviliged children in Sarasota and Manatee counties and all 3 bands including Kettle Of Fish, without a doubt delivered tonight! I was distracted towards the end of the show but the setlist goes something like this.

Wishing I was still in Sarasota at The Cabana Inn for Berry Oakley, Jr's after party but just rolled in to St Pete after an exceptional evening of music at Robarts Arena with Dickey Betts & Great Southern and some very special guests! Kimberly Betts, Chris Anderson and Berry Oakley, Jr all sat in at different times during the course of show and Dickey was on FIRE!!!!!

:guitarist: Wow, that is too cool. Should definitely be interesting to hear his take on a classic. Toy was such a MONSTER guitar player. And damn fine singer too, particularly on that song. He does this little run that starts on the 4:51 mark that always floors me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52ai_MFbGDo
