Family:
It was strange. I had delivered to me today a very late combination birthday and christmas gift!! You know, sometimes things just get lost in all the hustle and bustle and things going on...well, the gift arrived today of all things.
But I simply felt like expressing, here, that I was overwhelmed in this gift. Its simplicity in design is stunning. A few here know I am an engineer, so I have a very deep appreciation for simplicity as a beautiful core...that applies in my mind to "things" as well as people....in my opinion at least.
Its not in the name or vintage year of this beautiful instrument that excites me, but as I simply view it, turn it, and study "her" , I'm seeing nuances that I dont think her previous owner quite layered down to.
Oh, dont ask me what the gift is...thats not the point. What overwhelmes me is the thought, the sophistication, and elegance I observed already, and marvel at this true work of art. Created by God and beautifully seasoned over time.
Anyways, I will always treasure this particular gift. This is one of those that you know, would never part with.
Lizzie, prayers for Doug .
:dog: Joseph :inlove:
Sweetmo.net. Doug is the lead guitarist and singer.
My dear friend Doug has gone into Hospice. Please pray that God takes him home soon.
I don't know if his band's website is still active, but check out Sweetmoe.com or google Sweetmoe Denver. It was his dream to be a rock and roller and the last few gave him the opportunity to rock.
I could use a few prayers, myself. This is very surreal.
Happy New Year 1-1-11 and let the good times roll in 2011!!
😎
Happy New Years everyone! Boy! After gigging last night and being beat tired at the end of the night for tear down of our gear...made me think about brother Reddog and all the hard work he has done as a roadie for the brothers...These guys just don't get enough kudos in my opinion. Thank you Reddog for keeping our favorite band on the road!
Also sending (((((healing vibes))))) to Reddog...and everyone else who needs them...May your 2011 be happy and healthy and make you wiser..
A very Happy New Year to all of us. Those we have met and those we haven't had the pleasure of meeting. The music has created a family. Whenever I have met anyone from here on the Dickeyville road, it has been as if meeting an old friend.
Had a boring New Years Eve because I was on call and couldn't drink. I did get 11 hours of much needed sleep and feel like I could tackle the world today! Woke up to 50 degrees and sunny which is unusual for January in Maine.
trying to determine that now
Has everyone survived??
2010...
I reflect on the year like you would view and consume a sandwich; warmth as the bread, love as the meat, happiness as my favorite cheese, with sadness, death and change as the necessary and sprinkled in spicy condiments....
I was able to say I love you every day, and yet was not able to say I love you in the face of those I love.
I was afforded the opportunity to offer an introductory hello, and was forced by death to say farewell.
I handed out smiles often, and savored smiles when offered me.
I flexed at times, and stood my place at times.
I was the change agent at times, and accepted change along the way.
Overall, the 2010 sandwich was an enjoyable one as complex and diverse. I hope yours was as well....peace and love to my friends, Rick.
