Happy Birthday Brother Dave!
Hope to see you soon!
Mitch
Hmmmmmmmm, Not sure what to think to be honest Capn. Gregg seems to be off to me. Warren turns it into a completely different song for a while. It's definitely different. Dickey is sorely missed in that and so many, many more songs. Make that all songs.
Don't get me wrong. Obviously, all those cats can play. I've heard 'um with Dickey and w/o. It just doesn't sound like the ABB that I remember and love. Like Rainy put recently, Dickey's kung-fu is in, on, all around, upside down, thru and thru the music of the ABB. When an element, force, sound, tone, presence has been ingrained in your brain for so long......take it away and it just doesn't release as many of those endorphines w/o it.
I guess it's ok? Heck, some may like it more, but I definitely don't:nono:. Taking Dickey out of any song or band won't make it better that's for sure IMO. Definitely give me the DB&GS version, please.
I checked the setlists and it is James van der Bogert. I've read his name before, but don't really know who he is. Drum tech? Drummer in another band that guests every once in a while? Maybe someone can shed some light?
:birthday::fanfare:Brother Dave. Hope you've had a fantastic day. Been enjoying your skills along w/ Dickey, Danny, and the rest of the players in the Collectors cd. Man, I love that cd.
Thinkin' 'bout Amy, Gina, and Luke and sending prayers and vibes.
Check out the new drummer on the video below
Listening to NLTRW from wanee... good but SURE LACKS the BOUNCE I enjoy when I hear Dickey and Great Southern do it... it's almost boring if you can believe that.
whatya think?

4 of the 5 listed songs were written by Dickey!
Okay, so I'm on youtube and decide to pick something called "Allman Brothers Selections" or something like that. I'm not sure if it was based on view count or something else but here is how it went:
1. Whipping Post
2. Jessica
3. Blue Sky
4. Ramblin' Man
5. In Memory of Elizabeth Reed
Larry,i've spent many nights out on the lonesome highway listenin & somehow relating to that song for MANY years my friend.Somehow ,somewhere, the light finds its way thru i know. Some seasonings of life are burnt & scorched on our souls.Theres a lesson to learn i'm sure.Darkness thru the soul is agony.Have to & want to KEEP THE FAITH>& will understand it all one day in the sweet by and by.
Was told this afternoon by a close friend of mine.Of something called Stockholm Syndrome.Looked it up and it hits the note line after line.To ya'll out there that believe in JESUS CHRIST,,,PLEASE pray for our child.
A true classic Voador!

Happy 4/20 br'ers
Luke,
I believe that all will be well very soon. Sometimes it takes more than one try to quit a bad thing...I hope your daughter sees the truth soon.
Wish I could be at Red Dog's Memorial, but I am away for a few days, and just can't get there. My heart will be there instead.
As for the Dickey and Gregg connection talked about earilier....its going to take someone to make the first move. Despite the fact that they both feel hurt by each other, when someone gets humble enough, it will happen. It doesn't matter who it is anymore. It only matters that someone reaches out...I believe the other will respond. Pride (whether it is for a real reason or not), has probably sabatouged many possible reconciliations in life. I only hope it doesn't have to take place at someone's funeral.
Mitch ( the eternal optimist).
Doin the best i can.But she is now back by the side of the scumbag that caused all this, with a mangled arm that needs attention daily. Not to mention she's supposed to go back next week for skin grafts,& be in the hospital for 3 to 5 days. The bastard shes with has no vehicle,no place to stay(cept his Mom's).And she made the remark to my wife one day that she wished he'd never been born. That goes to show what a low life scum he is.I'm goin outta my mind with worry & heartache.GOD blessed from the get go to get her attention. And blessed all the way thru with dr's,nurses, healing etc.Sends chills up my spine to think of what could happen to that arm(& HER) now that shes turned her back on what GOD tried to pull her away from.
Hope none of ya'll ever go thru anything like this. Its a soul killer to say the least.
More love and good vibes to Luke and family.
My best wishes for safe travels to all who are going to the RD Memorial. He is greatly missed.
Been thinking about our service men and women. A young man from a town close to where I live was killed last week. It really brings it home. 🙁
Luke, your tremendous faith has been evident all over this page....dont doubt it now. God will take care of your baby girl....he spared her for a reason so hes not thru with her yet. Prayers going up for you and Gina and all that you are going thru right now.....Keep the Faith, God already has it worked out.
Wish that all of you were coming to Macon this weekend, would love to put some faces with a few more names......but I know all those who love Red Dog will be there with us in spirit as Rainy says.
Lizzie, see you very soon!
Love and prayers to all, especially those who are going thru the storms that life sometimes sends our way.....
Safe travels indeed to all en route to Macon for Red Dog -- you're special
Wanting to mention about Luke, and hoping that is is well in a hard time -- to him & Mrs and daughter Amy -- there's not much to say I guess -- it's only about the Love here on the website -- things will surely heal
Nic, Kevin et al -- right here too :smokinsmiley:
stopping in to say all the best -- thinking about those in need, or with a long trip to GA coming up -- yes this is a real nice website :clapping: 😎
Safe travels Dream Lady. I wish you could bottle up my thanks, respect, admiration, condolences, sadness etc. towards RedDog and spread it all out while you are down in Macon. I hope it's a wonderful weekend of thanks and rememberance for Brother RedDog for all that are going.
:smokinsmiley: indeed Brother Nic
I had a threat blocked last night and again this morning when I entered this website. I also noticed that a Photobucket ad appeared like a pop up after I entered the site.
Cap'n, have greedy capitalists siezed the website? Dang, I think I just got boinked by a piece of falling sky.
Happy 4/20!!! 😎
rest in peace RedDog
