What I have to say about these wars or the mess our economy is in will not make a damn bit of a difference. The only real voice I have is when I step into the voters booth. I do feel so sorry for those without work. I went through the lack of work in the late 70's and early 80's and i remember it well. The lack of work motivated me to return to school and obtain an education. Sound familiar???? I choose to focus on healing up and Praying for those in need. I do still Pray for Danny Toler everyday. I hope his benefit goes well. Homophobic is a word I heard twice yesterday Pintobean. Our church is going to discuss the topic of Gays and the Church next Sunday. I do look forward to this sermon. I suspect our Minister will take the approach of giving and sharing of Love for all. I am still working on that forgiveness problem I have. Thanks once again to CanPeach for the recent package. I hope you all have a Safe & Goodtime week. I have a Dr appointment today and hoping to get the remaining stitches out. Peach.

A sad morning here in Iowa. One of the young men killed in the helicopter debacle is from a small town very near where I live. I'm not one to wave my political feelings around, but in this case I don't mind. We lost another young man from my area just a couple months ago. I freely admit to being a Peace Monger. Bring our precious and brave young men and women home! I pray for their safety every day. That is all.

Nic, this country was founded on the premise of free speech. I don't argue or discuss politics anymore; I just say my peace once in awhile. You are entitled to do the same, popular or not. Sad that we are still losing our armed forces in such numbers. Onward - stuff to do today and too much time spent online already. Peach everybody.

Nic, I'm with you in grieving for those lost in that helicopter incident. The magnitude of that loss is incomprehensible. It hits way too close to home with a daughter at the Naval Academy. As for the politics, you and I are homophobic, racist bigots who hate old people and want to starve school children. Guess they should send us to China with Palin. If they do, I hope I get a ticket right next to you and Pam - we can break rice together!

Hi Lizzie. I have chosen for the most part to keep my political opinions to myself as they are not very popular around these parts. haha!!!! I will say I am sorry to hear of the passing of the Soldiers, Airmen and Seamen this past week in the helicopter attack. These troops were some of the finest and it is a huge loss to our military. The price of war is so high. I will be glad when this is over. Please keep our Servicemen, Servicewomen and their Families in your Thoughts and Prayers as they stand watch over our Great Nation. Peach.

LOL Nic. I didn't want to get into a political discourse. It's too HOT and I'm not running the a/c much, except at night when I absolutely HAVE to in order to sleep. I'm borrowing from Paul to pay Peter here. Or is it the other way around? I think it is. Whatever. Thank God for the Internet because I'm down to basic cable and had to force myself to watch a show on PBS about the Big Band era. Maybe some VERY light reading tonight.

Back in the 60's (dating myself again), I remember us hippies saying we didn't want to bring children into this world what with environmental and nuclear destruction looming. No one foresaw this. I want to thank "George Bush (both of em), Ronald Raygun and the entire Republican party for the military/industrial complex that got us into this mess...environmental, nuclear AND economic. If the Chinese demand payment on the debt (why WERE we borrowing from our so-called enemy anyway?) maybe we can just send them the Halliburton fortune and the Enron fortune and the Bush fortune and Sarah Palin just for laughs. Lay off - I'm a New York bleeding heart liberal/former journalist. I'm entitled to my opinion.

.....I read certain things, but this was pretty much a wake-up call: ..."Xinhua scorned the United States for a "debt addiction" and "short sighted" political wrangling. China, it said, "has every right now to demand the United States address its structural debt problems and ensure the safety of China's dollar assets." "International supervision over the issue of U.S. dollars should be introduced and a new, stable and secured global reserve currency may also be an option to avert a catastrophe caused by any single country," Xinhua said." ....can you as an American possibly fathom: 1. China "demanding" the U.S. to do ANYTHING? 2. A possible "world currency"?? God help us. Asleep at the wheel for over 40 years, and U.S. kids today WILL be suffering in the future because of it. My post is not about politics per se, and I dont want to make it into one. Its about economic survival.

Jim, I was recalling the gifts that you have made of your peace necklaces the other day. They were very generous and very appropriate. Maybe Karen will see this and make you another one.

Dickey apparently gives a lot of thought to his hats and his jewelry. I am sorry to hear that this hat was destroyed. Home fires scare me...loss of those small, but very important things we love so much. That Indian blanket vest seems to be a mainstay these days and he must have 20 peach colored tee shirts.

There is a pix on this site of my Daughter Sarah wearing that hat with Dickey and Jake. There may even be one of me wearing it. I rememeber Dickey telling Sarah to take the hat off and show the camera her pretty face. Man those were goodtimes!!!! Hell these are Goodtimes!!!! That hat was destroyed in the fire at Dickey House I believe. I wish it would have made it to the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame 😎 !!!! Peach

That's a real keeper Mitch. He really should have let you keep the hat. I kinda like his necklace myself. I've always wanted one of those Native American bone necklaces that Dickey wears and a few weeks ago, a girlfriend of mine presented me with one. It has a silver feather hanging from it. Love it. Not too fond of that pic with Duane - the one I took of Rainy and Duane is much more flattering. We took one with the three of us not too long ago - never got to see it. Rain Lady?

I love that picture! It was CDB Volunteer Jam night at Westbury theater, and DBB was playing. Lana had e-mailed me to ask if I could go to that show. I said yes. She got me 2 free tickets, and the backstage passes for me and my son. What a great night of music...Dickey and the band were on fire. When the show was over, we went "backstage", which is really behind the theater, where the bus is parked. I was shy (if you can believe that), I didn't know anyone in the band yet. I struck up some conversation with Mark Greenberg. and Mark May, but I was waiting for Dickey to come out and say hello to the crowd. Dickey came out and he really worked the crowd. Everyone wanted to shake his hand or get a picture. I was lucky to be standing next to him, so when he looked over at me, he said "Let's see how this hat looks on you"! My son snapped the picture right there. Then Dickey said "This hat looks so good on you you should keep it." I shot up to the stratosphere and grinned ( as you see in the pic). Then he put his arm around me and said " You know son, I was just funnin' with you". I had to laugh, as did my son, and I told Dickey that he got me good! It took me hours to come down from the high I had from that experience. That picture is my treasure from that night. A few months later, I brought that picture to BB Kings Club, and got Dickey to sign it. It sits proudly on my wall at home. Mitch
