Hey Nic, wish you could to man, that would be a blast!
Hey wayne. Great news!!! I wish I could join you all!! Enjoy the Buzz Brother!!!! Peach.
NO SHEEP! I have to keep what little reputation I do have. 🙂
:freaked: Oh no, not the little buddy seat. Just make sure bluedad packs the blowup sheep and everything will be fine. 😆
You might just be right Kev, bet I will be in the that little buddy seat in the back of John's truck!
Man, thats awesome Wayne. Mighty nice present from the wife and youngins. If Gregg does sing a song or two that would be awesome, but shucks.......you know the deal.........ridin' and hangin' out w/ BDOB and Bluedaddio is worth the price of admission alone.
hey Kev, I also think Wipe The Windows is a great album, it was released at the time as a money maker stop-gap album for Capricorn, but I think it is outstanding. Say what you will about the Liz Reed on FE, for me this version is just as good if not better. Chuck's piano puts that song a notch higher for me. And the cuts from the Winterland show are outstanding too (that show should be released as we all know there is a soundboard AND film from that night,) and a great version of Jessica on there too. Cool album design, great pictures on the inside, although the photo captions do mix up Twiggs and Chuck in one of the pictures. All in all, it is probably my 2nd favorite album by the ABB with Eat A Peach being tops on my list.
My wife and kids bought me a ticket (Birthday/Father's Day present) to meet Gregg at The Big House. Should be a great night, riding to Macon with BlueDad and BigDave. Maybe Gregg will play a couple of tunes that night.
Hope everyone is doing well, Nic, Kev, Pinto, Jim, RainLady...
Yep, that is another one that kinda gets picked on from time to time. I absolutely love that cd. Certainly not better than LAFE, but I still dig it. It probably has my fav. version of Ramblin Man(always been amazed at how that is considered that counrty crap by some after listening to Dickey's 3 or 4 min. solo at the end) and mighty good versions of Jessica and Liz Reed as well. Very solid live cd IMHO.
Let's not forget Brothers of the Road either. A true clunker and the follow up to Reach for the Sky. Almost makes PATB a gold record in comparsion.
While on this topic, one of the oddest ABB releases, IMO, was the Wipe the Windows release. It was odd for them to release a live album that, at the time, was not well recorded, and simply regurgitated a lot of stuff that had already been released. I like it because I like the Chuck-Lamar era, but it was pretty weak at the time
You're right Jonesy. LAFE would be a 10. Idlewild or B & S? :uhoh: Thats a dead heat man.................they are both pretty hard to beat. That is just too hard of a decision.
69Dickey.......I tend to agree w/ you but I'm not gonna put down the current abb. Not this time anyway. They are all talented musicians, but the current abb just doesn't work for me anymore for various reasons. It has nothing to do w/ the fax or the hatred between the originals.
 Hey TennKev... there is no way you can change that duche bag...he still hasn't moved on.
He is still livin in the late 90's and early part of 2000 when the ABB were still good.
Everybody knows if you want the most authentic Allman Brothers experience, you go to a Dickey Betts show. Now that's a FACT
"Jonesy you are disqualified for trying to skew the results by voting 10 on a 5 point scale. This is why we can't include you on these kinds of things. "
Come on, I dig this kind of stuff. Well, I hate to screw up the math. How's about I throw Eat a Peach in and we give them each a five?
Now here is a question for you (forget this Peakin conversation, it ain't going anywhere). Which would you rank higher, Idlewild South or Brothers and Sisters?
I know you didn't ask me, but hey it's a public site
LAFE: 10 on a scale of 5
Reach for the Sky: this was awful. Zero
I've never bought an ABB record without Betts on it. What did they put out, a couple?
Peakin' at the Beacon. Probably 3 1/2 stars.
Fillmore 5 stars
Reach for the Sky 1 star
Reach for the Sky 1 star
:wall: But why do I bother. Because I enjoy calling an idiot an idiot. A sh*t stirrer a sh*t stirrer. Which, we all know on both sites, that is what you are.
Again........let me attempt to drill this into your thick skull. I don't think that everything that Dickey or the abb has done musically, has been totally awesome. I don't think that everything that Dickey has done as a person/band mate/hell every aspect of his life that I have seen or read about has been perfect.
But I damn sure don't put it all on his back either. They all made mistakes and they all caused the deterioration of the relationship. 'Course you will never see that or admit it.
Wow!! I just read through the last couple of days of posts, and it's wild that emotions still run so high.
I guess in reading all this I think...what exactly is the issue here? If the core issue is that the ABB "brotherhood" was not abided by by the supposed firing of Betts, that seems to be silly. This band has had problems probably from day one, but it was Duane Allman who sort of kept things together.
The brotherhood was probably more myth than reality anyway. Nobody ever professed that Gregg Allman was anything but a great singer and good B3 player. I am going to buy his book and read it because I am an ABB fan and the back stories on these things are interesting to read.
However what is still cool is that Dickey just played some great sounding shows from the reviews, and the ABB, with or without Dickey still put on a powerful fun show.
I already did dumb a*s. Keep up Amy, I mean Hemlock, I mean RebelSmell, I mean Prine. You should really change your name to sh*t stirrer, so people won't have to try to weed thru any of your bullsh*t.
Hell, you've made negative comments under 5 different names, Amy Regan. Now how f*cked up is that?
All you have ever done on here is put down Dickey and make comments. We all KNOW that.
Ok, was the recording bad or was the playing bad? I just went to amazon and looked at the ratings of Peakin' at the Beacon. Average 3 1/2 star rating. Everybody has an opinion. Doesn't make yours right.
5 star: (9)
4 star: (8)
3 star: (10)
2 star: (8)
1 star: (4
I read what Gregg said about Peakin' at the Beacon in an interview, so I'm not making it up.
So how are you any different than all of us? What makes you so qualified?
😆 LMFAO........who is making up sh*t? People are reading Gregg's own words and commenting and asking some pretty damned good questions.
You aren't part of the disruption, you ARE the disruption on here. But, we all know how much you love it.
You and a handful of others, constantly like to point out Dickey's flaws, and like to blame him for everything. It looks to me like people are starting to see that they all have flaws and are also to blame for the deterioration of the relationship.
Just for the record, Peakin' at the Beacon is not as bad as some people say it is. Gregg was the first one to say it was bad and everybody jumped on his bandwagon. I was at two shows at the Beacon in 2000 before Dickey got the fax. The two shows I went to were fanf*ckingtastic!!! They shoulda let me pick out the setlist. If it was so damned bad, why did they allow it to come out?
