To Rainy & Kimberly & others who have sent me PM's (I didn't even know that Red Dog liked one of my posts so much he printed it until I just now found my PM place) I never knew that I had a PM place on this site! How stupid of me not to notice!! Some of my PM's are several years old and not read until NOW. I'm so embarrassed. Hope y'all didn't think I'm a stuck up prick:-) Thanks Rainy for tipping me that I needed to check my PM's! I was thinking..what the hell is that. Then I figured it out by just looking! Thanks and to those who never got a reply from me..I'm so sorry. I just never knew until right now that I had a place for PMs on this site. Yes I read that new Butch interview the other day and Butch says the band was thinking the ceremony in LA would be a good time to see each other without having to play and they had arranged for Dickey to fly in but he canceled at the last minute...and that Dickey CHOSE TO LEAVE THE BAND and was not FIRED by fax no matter how many times you read it or who says it!!! But I clearly remember Butch HIMSELF posting on the blue site just after Dickey was "faxed" that he had decided to leave the band because of Dickey but did NOT know Gregg Allman was also leaving the band because of Dickey. Gregg's then wife told Butch's wife and she told Butch AND THAT IS WHEN BUTCH CALLED GREGG AND SAID rather than us leaving, let's give Jaimoe a call and tell him they we are done with the Allman Brothers if he (Jaimoe) will not vote with them to FIRE Dickey. But Jaimoe wouldn't do it. So Butch reported Jaimoe WOULD go along with a temporary suspension to save the summer of 2000 tour because Butch & Gregg simply were NOT going to tour even though the tour was just days away from starting and many tickets had been sold & they would have a meeting in the fall of 2000 with Dickey and see if he was ready to change his ways. So Gregg faxed Dickey the info that he would not be needed for the summer tour and to listen to the tapes and that his playing and personal problems had become an embarrassment to the fans and the band members. Butch later reported that Dickey had hired a lawyer and took the band to court and as far as Jaimoe was concerned that showed that Dickey had quit so they were going to offer the slot on lead guitar to Jimmy Herring and that slowly they would remove Dickey's material from their sets until they were not playing any of Dickey's songs. Well that didn't happen. They are still playing Dickey's songs. Oh an Butch also talked about how he had enough of Dickey and if you had been in his shoes & been though what he had for the last 31 years we would understand! And that Dickey wouldn't give him a writing credit on Liz Reed (and Duane backed Dickey according to Butch on Liz Reed being a Dickey ONLY song) or Madness Out of the West despite working up a drum solo for both songs and Dickey had made big money off of his song writing for the band over the years and Butch had made pretty much nothing. So there is NO question we got it from the horses mouth from Butch in 2000 & in other interviews during the 2000's & from Gregg in several interviews that Dickey was let go!! Oddly Gregg in his book "My Cross to Bear" all but says they let Dickey go but in the end says Dickey QUIT!! But in an interview with a radio station promoting the book he is ask by the disc-jockey what really happened with the Dickey situation and Gregg said "Over the years it became more and more evident that Dickey didn't fit in. In a band that plays like the brothers..how well the people in the band get along off the stage affects how well the band plays ON stage. With him (dickey) it had GOTTEN SO BAD THAT WE HAD TO LET HIM GO". So it is "quit" one time and "fired" the next!! But I write this with some reservation!!! That latest interview with Butch and he is asked about why Dickey didn't come to the life time Grammy award..Butch was kinda nice to Dickey FOR ABOUT THE FIRST TIME!! He even said he thinks he and Dickey may never see each other again now. It's been 12 years so maybe even Butch has softened a bit but I just don't know what to think of Gregg! Butch did say that the current Allman Brothers is the LAST version of the band and has been together longer than any other version and if and when that version has a member who will not continue that would be the end of it. But Gregg (who usually says something different than Butch) said he hoped the ABB would continue even after he (Gregg) is not able to continue. That the Allman Brothers has continued after several key members were gone & it could continue after he (Gregg) is gone. If Butch Trucks or Gregg Allman read this, I hope now enough time has passed that you two and Dickey can at least see each other and be moderate friends again. There was so much PAST you three and Jaimoe shared together and I know it because I've been seeing ABB shows since 1970 & saw the original band many, many times & all other versions. But I no longer see the current lineup. I'm old school I guess. Now that Dickey is out, it makes me notice Duane and Berry gone even more. Butch and Jaimoe are in the band and yes they are still in the band but Gregg is the only original on the front line now & the band plays some cover songs that just don't fit the feel of the band to me so I don't go any more & haven't been to see the ABB for years. That is just me. I know the current line up consists of great players & maybe L. Skynyrd's replacement players are technically better than the original guys but after seeing so many ABB shows with the orignal lineup and tons more with Gregg, Dickey, Butch & Jaimoe, I just can't do it! BTW, I could only see ONE show in 1981 because they had dropped Jaimoe. I kept thinking about how much more interesting the drums were with Jaimoe IN the band. And David Toler (RIP--a great drummer!) sounded to much like Butch so that ying/yang think was gone. Just like it is now between Gregg & Dickey.

Jim, no airline will allow you to bring more than one pet per person into the cabin; all airlines have limits on total pets in the cabin; and, I think Southwest doesn't accept anmals at all, not even Prine!!!! :laugh:
