Hey Mitch. We are lucky we know whom Dickey is!!!! It is what what it is folks. Like many a relationship it is over between Dickey and the ABB. To bad, but true. I am just thankful I got to see Dickey front and perform on the stage for almost 30 years with the ABB and I am fortunate for that. No one can change the music they all made together. And then there are all the Brothers and Sisters Of The Road Pam and I have met and Love along the way!!!! 😎 Dickey seems to be doing just fine these days. His band is getting Great reviews!!!! Peach.
Every ABB show I have seen, which had a video of past members, has shown Dickey Betts. In the first years, it would bring cheers from the audience when DB's picture would show.
Now, the crowd is so different at ABB shows, that half of them don't know who DB is 🙁 While I have had to accept the sound of the current ABB, the change in the crowd is upsetting more. The crowd at the DB show at The Concert Hall was more like what I am used to.
Mitch
Obviously Claude has nothing to do with the video portion of the show!
A giant WOW!!!

Jim, here's a site where you can get ABB downloads of Instant Live shows. The most recent show on there tonight was July 30, in Columbia Maryland, so in a few days the Charlotte show should be there. For $14.95, think I'm gonna tag that one too. You can preview shows, too.

Pleasant surprise that DB is in the backdrop video! I would never have expected it though I'd have wished he were included. Excluding him is like telling the story of Noah's ark and leaving out Noah.
Wishing you well, Nic!
Glad you had a fun show, Jim! 😀
DB was in photos on the screen last night in Raleigh. :yep:
Scary when it happens in your back yard. Mine was in feb
Good ole Sunday to y'all. It's hotter than hell here. My blood should be quite thick enough to handle the heat that's coming at me. Still waiting on the lawyers to get it together.
Nic (and Pam) you are always in my thougts and prayers. You are one strong couple and I love you dearly.
Jim, glad you had a great time. LS still throws out a damned good show and the ABB line up is stellar even without Dickey. Now, I would prefer him but you can't say that Derek and Warren aren't a "wall of sound" too!
T shirts - still wearing the Dickey shirt you gave me ALL the time. I just love it.
Rainy girl, give me a call if you get a chance. Would love to chat for a bit and maybe get you down to visit sometime. Can't let life pass you by without a trip to the homeland.
Have a great day, everybody.
Another senseless mass shooting...this time in my town about 5 miles from my house. 🙁
When will all this stupid-shit stop...?
Glad you had a Goodtime JK!!!! I've had a rough few daze but am hopefully on the mend. I am still alive thanks to my wife Pam, my Drs and nurses and the Grace of God. Thanks to all of you for the Love and Friendship!!!! Peach.
Prine is so funny hiding behind peoples names taking potshots at people he doesn't care for! He's like a retarded 6 year old,the only difference is that the retarded 6 year old makes better decisions then the gay marine!
Good Old Sunday Morning :sunny:
Well, the heat :flame: is still on , weather wise... WOW... very hot summer here out on L.I.... Hope everyone is enjoying it and all the music in your hometowns :)..
JK interesting posts.. I am happy you had yourself a great time and LS was really good...
My own personal experience with the ABB since DB is just that , personal.. I enjoy their music, but what drew me to them at the young age of 21 was like Steve had mentioned " heart and Soul"and a brotherhood and besides they all looked liked my friends did back then .. that was the original 6.. there is no match for that... and of course after the sad and untimely deaths of Duane and Berry.. we still had the one and only Dickey Betts and his heart and soul was beating for all them... He helped to keep the band going in a productive way... and that according to his old bandmates caught up with him and he needed to change... hmmmmm.. we all know the outcome of that.
I was heartbroken when the ABB had no DB in it.. and it showed itself to me on the shows I did attend since the split.. I always left, well sad.. like I said this is my own personal story/ feelings about a BAND.. The best BAND I ever heard...
I am loyal to Dickey Betts as a fan.. I think his body of creative work , his contributions, compositions, to the ABB, along with his tone, melody, voice I felt this was hard to separate.. but with his band DBGS..he has been yet successful once again in achieving what his dreams were... and I am appreciative of that..
I don't know what happened between these men..not then or now and nor do I care... It's about the music is all... How it was made, who were these men that made it. They gave insights as to who they were and what they were about... So naturally it sparks an interest as to what could've happened... the best answer to any of it is.... Life happened day in and day out... people die, people change, friends come and go, LOVE is found and lost, many enormous changes happen through out our lifetimes... some good , some bad... some for the better, some for the worse..
I saw my last ABB show at the Beacon I think 07..it was a good show , but not the band I wanted to see..When I do get to see DBGS..that is what I am looking to hear and the musicians in that band are all polished as well...
It's just a matter of taste and letting something " go "...
anyway..hope everyone is well and have and enjoy a Blue Sky Day..
Joesph .. your input would be greatly appreciated ..because he had such a balance about his own life with the ABB and these men...
yeah , I miss that..
:dog:  :inlove:
one eye open
I just recieved from muleman 7-20-12 show and am quite surprised how clean it sounds. It is really an enjoyable show. The talent of the band shines . Thanks Dickey and Muleman ( I think the name is right)
Dan
Is it because he's not dead yet?
I saw somebody else today wearing a brand new LS tshirt and asked whether he'd been to the show last night, so he gave me the same glowing review we got from JK. I've seen ABB 3 times since the breakup and it's definitely different but to me the vibe is still there and the performance is, yeah... unbelievable. Still have not seen DBGS but I would expect the same. Thanks for the review Jim. Did you buy the Instant Live?
As for the rest of you, do really and truly think they are going to put pictures of Dickey up during their show? Come on...
Peach & JK...I would go a bit further and say not just odd not to show Betts...but downright classless!
Very accurate review, JK...from what I have seen in these two bands recently is that Skynyrd plays their "hits" almost to the note.
ABB played way too many covers at the last show I went to...Did not sound like the ABB...sounds like you hit an ABB show where they played ABB songs. I have been to ABB cover shows that sounded more like the original ABB. I guess now that is an oxymoron.
Yea it just seems odd to show past members on a big screen and not include Dickey who was responsible for alot of their commercial success! I'm just saying.
😀 Sounds great to me Jim, post away bro! Keen to hear your take
