wishing Dickie the best in Japan..come back to sarasota safe..yeah. Sarasota, home of DICKEY BETTS and nic wallenda
All safe travels to DB&GS as their music takes them across the ocean to some distant land -- a travel/Music DVD of a 3-date whirlwind tour of the Land of the Rising Sun, I think would be cool!
Partyboy & anyone else, safe traveling to Japan. Pack your umbrella because it is rainy season here! Look out for me at the 2 Friday concerts as I'm always keen for a beer and a yarn. I don't know how many foreigners, or gaijin as we are called here, will be there but I will be one of them!
I am sure the B&S collection will put some coin in Dickey's pocket. Been thinking of Nic lately.
The thing from the photo that sticks out to me is that Mr. Betts is front & center like he always was & should always be
coffee this morning is in particular soothing and appreciated. Drama here has for now leveled out and we appreciate that as well.
Drank the kool-Aid and bought the enhanced B&S package, and its on its way. Cool, and looking forward to it. Hope it put a few coins in Dickey's bank account.
Hope Dickey continues to recover and get stronger. Japan will be a series of very cool gigs for the band. He will be appreciated there.
Happy Sunday to the regulars...
The picture speaks volumes... the 3 main creative forces of the band...damn to go back in time. Thanks Rainy!!!!!
And he said...
On the closing of the Fillmore East: Well, it was sad really. I managed to get a hold of one of those bricks when they closed it. I had all the guys in my band sign it and itโs in my music room on my piano to this day.

my guess is that the photographer on the left is Phil Walden... just a hunch.
Great picture rainy...one of the best pics you could ever find that tells the story...BEGINNINGS!
Now this is the Allman Brothers Band! The best times and I'm sure some wholesome breasteses...nope SURE was the time!
Probably all of the other things we adore as well.
Agree with all things said...Twiggs was a giant...I do have a personal story that I may share at some time about how excited Twiggs was about his job and what he did for me at one time...the best time!
wow and tell me Berry wasn't into it at that moment...
DB looks cool and bad!
cool pic!
notice how people are looking right, and the guy on the left is taking a picture of it...
what could that be? hmmmmmmmm.......
ideas?
topless dancer?
goofy stoned guy?
cops?
hmmmm.......

Lordy, Lordy...what a picture...Rainy, you have touched deep. This is the real ABB. and Rick, wish I was there too, onstage tuned up!! haha
That picture has many layers....I completely agree with beautiful Rainy; I wish I could hear what I am seeing.
Its a great picture.
Yes, there is something obviously going on to the bands left. I might guess there's a beautiful girl twirling in a gauze dress....Or, the cops are trying to find out where all the funny smoke is coming from. No stage to speak of, only a drum riser (no mics on the drums!).
Perhaps this was one of the early Piedmont Park gigs. Those were likely free. Twiggs removed his hat to get the shot. Where's THAT roll of film?
that is some photo -- agreed with every post -- never did recall Dickey w/a goatee like that -- would love to know the when & where on this one -- awesome!
๐ Yes I agree dobro.. on all you say.
I wonder what the audience is looking at to their right.. when they have heaven right in front of them.. LOL..
also on the lower right it looks like Twiggs taking a photo and on the far left side someone else has a zoom camera... more pictures Please ..
Wish I could hear what I am seeing ..
Love the pictures from those times.. it seems like only yesterday.

Rainy, that photograph speaks volumes. Thanks for posting it! Oakley, playing the "Tractor" bass, has two Fender Bassman amps, at least one Marshall, maybe two. Who knows what's actually hooked up and what may be spares? An obvious Y cord into the taller guitar rig. One visible microphone, so that would probably only total two with Gregg's mic. The tailpiece on Dickey's SG looks like some early (or mutated) Bigsby model. Oh Lordy, to have been there and heard that....
One thing for sure....the boys sure loved to knock back a cold PBR!
"Pabst Blue Ribbon.....the official beer of The Allman Brothers Band"
Happy Friday!
