man it was a bummer not beng able to see dbgs at the fair (only 3 hours). that makes 4 years since the last time i seen the band (@Taste of syracuse). Hopefully I'll get another chance to see the boys next time around. sadface.
Good Afternoon Brothers and Sisters,
Heading back to Indiana tomorrow. I can make it from Manhattan to Btown in around 14 hours. It's a bear but after the first 5 hours I get into some sort of zone. I wouldn't recommend it and if I get tired I pull over. Anyway, I just checked out the Lawrenceburg show on the 28th. Nice line up for that saturday starting with Richard Furay, then Burton Cummings, followed by Dave Mason, then The Outlaws, and finally our own DBGS. the other day I walked by BB Kings up on 42cd street here in the city and I saw that Dave Mason was playing later this month and I went "Damn, sure wish I was going to be here." Looks like I'll see him in Indiana. He has not been given the recognition he's due in my opinion. Hope all is well out there. Thanks for the reviews. safe travels all. KLBazur
"Dickey?....Dickey Betts is as bad as bad can be." Duane Allman, radio interview 1971
..........that's what it's all coming to......
Damn good times this weekend! Dickey and Great Southern owned the NYS Fairgrounds on Sunday afternoon. The people outside crowd were dancing and roaring for more! They loved Dickey and you could feel the good vibe energy flowing through everyone listening...Duane was killer and getting finer and finer...his solos are truly transcendary and do take you to other worlds with his own sweet entrancing style...The crew worked so hard especially with the heat and humidity going on but pulled off an amazing show again. I was hooting and hollering and dancing with Maria, Frankie's sister, having us a good old time, we do make every second last an hour and appreciate every life drop we are blessed with...great hanging with Johnny Appleseed and Blues Eyes, Dr. John...A great thank you to the whole band for a great show and good times!Kimberly
P.S. Moongrass girl we missed you!
glad it worked for you rainy:cool:

Have a wonderful Labor Day everyone.. I am working later today 🙂
And he said...
"Writing a good instrumental is very fulfilling, because you've transcended language and spoken to someone with a melody. My instrumentals try to create some of the basic feelings of human interaction, like anger and joy and love, but it's something that's very difficult to explain."
-- Dickey Betts
Wishing Everyone a Happy Labor Day.
Please try to remember to be careful, drink responsibly, don't drink and drive and ALSO REMEMBER those who battled hard, some giving their lives for THE WORKERS OF AMERICA.
Play/Listen to some Good Music, Love one another... hug those within your reach.

It was a short show this afternoon, Ron posted on the blue site, but Dickey announced that right at the start, and "for an hour show it kicked ass"
Sounds like a great time Rainy -- I love that song, and How Can I Be Sure too --
their double album Peaceful World spins pretty regularly on the turntable
now I'm keen to hear about Dickey's show from earlier today! Great to read the positive posts from the Durham show 😀

Good Old Sunday Morning :sunny:
Shorty thanks for the pm and I am sorry about not sending a message back ..I will send after I post this..
I will not be at ABB show at Jones Beach.. I love that venue , what could be better than your favorite band playing at the beach ?
Although I still love the ABB, I more than likely will not be seeing them again . I prefer their sound much better when Dickey Betts was part of that band. Just a personal choice for me. But anyone who is going have yourself a great time.. Weather permitting of course, that's the only draw back with the beach concert..
So this past week Bill and I went to Mohegan Sun in Conn. and saw The Rascals Once Upon a Dream.. it was great fun and the music brought us back to our younger days. They were a great band back in the 60's.. very enjoyable..
All going to the NY upstate fair to see and hear DBGS have a great time and post all about it.. Can't wait..
Blue Sky days 🙂

Question to Rainy:
Dear Rainy, I am a fan from Germany (the one who posted a photo from July 2008 Bonn concert which you re-posted in the guest book). I had posted last Sunday a private message to you since I will be in Long Island next weekend. Best regards, Roland
OK, so hope the DB and GB world is kickin' today.... I am partying hearty getting ready to pull an engine, wheee... (sarcasm)....
So just last week I picked up my old reel to reel which was rebuilt top to bottom and now I'm looking forward to doing some favorite compilations off vinyl like the old daze. DB factors in heavy 🙂
Dobro, thanks for posting
you made me smile big time
:jump:
Were there any tapers at the last couple shows?!!
