Thanks to everyone, Capn, Pinto, Dan and others re the Layla question. I really wanted this cool tie-in to Duane and my new Layla Les Paul is being painted now. Cannot wait to see the finished product.
I know this is coming from left field but my wife was watching Ellen this after noon and she had this 10 year old kid who can PLAY the guitar! Ellen asked him if he could play Jessica by the Allman brothers and the kid nailed it. The video is on Ellen's tv website. Check it out!
Dan
Capn, I always enjoy watching that Tom Dowd video, too. That's rare insight into the mind of a true genius.
Like what Clapton says about him, too. I sure wish I knew Clapton - very modest, selfless, and honest. Doesn't take himself too seriously.
Amen Brother Capn. My one and only trip to Macon was mighty special too.
🙁 Sure miss Brother Nic.
Hope all you folks are doin' alright out there.
Some GREAT READING pinto, thanks... makes me think of that wonderful weekend in Macon at the Big House with some Very Special Friends

So, yeah, Duane Allman chose the Goldtop for the Layla sessions.
I can't wait to see that Layla guitar!
Wanted to double check for ya Rick... from a pretty reliable source...
Used goldtop on original recording, and cherry sunburst for overdubs later sessions

Hey y'all ! Had me a Les Paul on my right arm. Tattood in August. Its ranked with a rose. Well, love playing Stratocaster too,so I'll get a Strat neck reaching half through some cloud formation to the sky on the left. My Mom's coolest about. Just gotta love her.
Now,everyone have a fine week. Dark November has passed and Monday is almost gone...

….there is a local artist that has taken guitars and painted them various album covers, so I'm thinking about having one done in the Layla cover. And I was thinking OK since Duane played on that it would be cool to have it done in the same type guitar he played…so there you go.
Thank you Capn.
i believe it was a gold top... now in the big house museum... it comes out now and then for special events, GABBAFest etc...
