Wrong answere Pinto. I've seen them 10 plus times since the split. I saw them twice at the Beacon in 2001, twice in 2002, and twice in 2003 plus multiple time after that in Va. Beach, Charlotte, and Raleigh.
Personal bias and grudge against two members of the band. Yeah, I think they did Dickey dirty. But, I have seen them enough to have my own informed opinion of the current ABB.
Pinto, do I tell you what to like and dislike?
Kevin, you can dislike the music for whatever reasons you choose but don't try to give anyone the impression that you've listened to the ABB current lineup enough to be a credible critic of their music. If you haven't heard the "subtle inflections" or whatever in their music, there's only one reason - you haven't listened to it!
I agree with you and others that Gregg and Butch have maligned Dickey and done him dirty. I think Dickey has proven himself to be the grown up in that crowd. He has shown remarkable self restraint in not responding to all that garbage and that exemplifies the good and decent man of character that he is.
Most folks have been able to move on from this - most significantly Dickey Betts. I really admire that about him and the fact that he's taken a really crappy situation and turned it completely around into a great one with this fantastic band which does definitely have more of the "old" Allman Brothers sound and feel than the current ABB.
But just because the current ABB doesn't even try to sound like any other formation of the ABB doesn't mean they're just "brute force" or however you want to characterize their music based on nothing other than your personal bias and grudge against a couple of guys in that band.
Well, shucks.......don't run off. You forget, I enjoy this too. I only stopped temporarily out of respect for the other kind, upstanding members.
You must have just gotten out of jail. Either that or you have run out of medication or changed medications.
And for the record, I have only been banned on one online community and that would be the blue site. I consider that to be a badge of honor.
And I never changed names and went back either. Unlike you Sybil.
Is all of this an attempt to scare us all. :shudder: Oooooooo keyboard gangster is gonna put somthing on Craigslist about one of us. I'm sure you'll end up back in jail or worse one day.
:lol2: I think its just soooooooo damned funny that this is what you have amounted to in life. Carry on Mr. Pitiful.
Concerning your "other" name that has stumped us all?
Who cares?
You will eventually step on your pecker and will be exposed. Why? Because you aren't that smart. š
Want to start a movement to get Dickey at this year's JazzFest...please drop management a line

We all know you have been here the whole time.
And when you post, we can tell everytime with a day or two that it is you, regardless of what name you go by.
Well, damn....where you been for two years?
And what difference does that make? I'm sure you created that about the same time you were Amy Regan, Duane69 or one of your other names.
Son!!
LMAO, I guess you best be thinking of a new name.

I smell a long time, name changing, sh*t stirrer.
While I will admit of the talent level of current ABB, it lacks the subtle inflections, melodic danceability factor, and the yin-yang between the Gregg and Dickey songs and vocals.
Basicly, now they just beat you over the head with brute force. Some dig it that way and some don't.
Futhermore, I'll take a '96 setlist waaaay more than anything they have done the last 10 years.
I would actually rather listen to the Jimmy/Derek combo more than the Warren/Derek combo. But, none of 'um come close to moving me mentally, physically, and spiritually when Dickey was in the line up.
Now, this I will agree. From Derek, "I think not only for the band and the legacy but for the audience too it would be something nice to tie it up. The whole story of the band is this dysfunctional crazy family and it has been from the beginning. I think thatās one of things that draws people to that music, thereās a humanity about it and I think for it not to go out right would be a shame especially when itās still tangible. I just think itās the right sentiment but weāll seeā¦ā
Its just the right thing to do, but like he said, "we'll see".
Good Morning Brothers and Sisters,
Both Pintobean and Dan have good points. I don't think Dickey will play with the ABB again. But, we have lots to hope for like Dickey playing with Warren or maybe with Warren AND Derek. Or⦠Pedro and Duane playing w/ Warren and Kris Jensen and Jamoe. Lots of different scenarios here. Sunny and mild in Gotham today. Safe travels everyone. KLBazur
"Dickey?⦠Dickey Betts is as bad as bad can be." Duane Allman radio interview, 1971
I remember how badly Red Dog wanted the original Brothers to get back together. He truly wanted to see it happen, and if I recall, Claude's comments at the time pretty well drove a wedge in that.
I think that, as fans, we want them to perform together...just shut up and play. Then, in my opinion, it simply becomes "music" (for the money), and of course the Brotherhood is not there.
OK then, so be it. I'll take it that way.
My apologies, Peachmaniac - I meant to say Allman Muletruck, not Allman Brothers Band, but whatever you call them, it's deadly stuff. Ain't the same as the original ABB lineup, but neither was the five man band, the Brothers and Sisters lineup, the Enlightened Rogues lineup, the Haynes/Betts, Trucks/Betts, or the Pearson/Betts or whatever other configurations have appeared as the "Allman Brothers Band" throughout the last 45 years. I've liked it all and I really like DB&GS a lot. Right now I'm hoping for a studio release for Duane Betts and Pedro Arevelo - they might be the best thing to converge out of the whole giant dysfunctional mess that is the Allman Brothers Band.
Have you seen all the Brethren of the Coast videos???? I think I like those guys more than anybody else!
Pintobean there has not been an Allman Brothers Band since May 14th,2000 !
Would inviting Dickey to rejoin the ABB supposedly be some magnanimous gesture on their part toward Dickey? I don't buy that. Even if GA and BT thought that Dickey was impossible to work with they could have gone their separate ways without continually smearing Dickey publicly. So I just don't see why Dickey would want to play with ABB after all that's been said and done. He's got nothing to prove.
However, I do think that Congress should pass a law requiring Trucks and Haynes to continue playing with the Allman Brothers Band. It just doesn't seem right to me to have no Allman Brothers Band. That's like removing the Washington Monument.
'bout how I see it as well....
I don't see Dickey ever playing with Gregg again. Or Claude for that matter. The Bashing they have given Dickey over the years is tremendous and if it was me there would no turning the other cheek.
I have been in Dickey's corner since day one and have not bought any ABB products since 2000 and will continue to make it that way. I read Gregg's book by way of the local library but I bought A Never Ending Groove, No Saints No Sinner's, A Book Of Tails and Skydog along with Duane's Box Set. And I have seen Dickey numerous times these last 14 years and Derek too. As for the ABB they ceased to exist after they fired Dickey and the facts came out. Gregg and Claude are nothing but a couple of hypocrites.

I've been all over the map with this one, as many of you may have. The cynic in me even allowed the pessimistic thought of this whole thing being a spin to bring attention and boost sales. I chase that demon away, and then ponder that it was perhaps just a few judgmental souls who screwed the whole thing up in the first place. If true brotherhood, love, and patience were in place long ago, could it not have turned out drastically different?
If it comes down to a monetary issue making the decision, perhaps it's not as pure as we've perceived it to be.
Still, I would love to see it happen.
Ant that, friends, is my two cents!
Great topic....
Get well soon, Capn.
