Great gig in Windsor Colorado Friday nite - beautiful room, GREAT sound system and an engineer who really knew how to run it. Enthusiastic crowd to go with all the other good stuff.
Highlights were Bobby Charles' tune "I don't want to know" and the Dave Egan/Tab Benoit opus about a really conflicted young woman who moved from Terrebonne Parish Louisiana to New York City -"One Foot in the Bayou."
A splendid time was had by all!
Mean old woman. She never said goodbye! Martha gave me a ride down to Elizabeth city sat afternoon after work. Ole jaq made a Mandarin orange cake and a pineapple whipped up icing for Dr box fathers day. My two grand kids were there. They weren't acting like kids. I was a happy grand daddy! Fish were jumping everywhere!
Capn, I guess you're looking for a comedy act to start things off. That would be me and Mike compared to the musicians you know or the Blues Doctors.
Capn - Pintobean - you can book The Blues Doctors for that gig too! Between the bunch of us, we'll just tear it up - maybe persuade Dickey & Company to close the show!!
WOW! I've never done anything like that. We had a fantastic time today - probably 15 people showed up, but it is so exhausting toting all that gear way down to my dock and especially back UP to the house! I'm definitely gonna sleep well tonight! Already brainstorming the next one - might even give folks more than one day of notice next time!
pinto.... we'll book your band at that venue to open for My "Sons of the South" tour next summer....
PM me details....
Hey Everybody...just checking in and saying Hi! to all our Dickey Betts family! I love all you guys and gals and don't take one second of life for granted,,,just like Stevie Ray Vaughn said...Life by The Drop...
Love, Kimberly
I've got a big gig tomorrow, too. My buddy, Mike, and I are setting up on my dock on the pond where I live at 2:00pm and playing to the shore where I invited all my neighbors to come over and plant their lawnchairs on the bank. We're playing for an hour and then going to see a very popular local singer/songwriter, Danielle Howle, at the Riverfront Amphitheater is Columbia, SC - great place for a show. I dream about playing there someday....of course you can dream anything you want. My neighbors might tar and feather me tomorrow...just hope nobody calls the cops! But it's gonna be a fun day!
Gig tonight in Windsor Colorado - people there are gonna be rockin to some Louisiana roots music. We got de Zydeco and Swamp Pop workin!
God bless the sweet file gumbo and every song that Bobby Charles wrote.
Not to mention a heavy dose of Da Bluz.
Hey, dobro! Good to see you rown deeze parts, dude! See if you can top your Ramblin Man verse!
Yep...
If we can keep ya'll laughing you're less likely to get in trouble!
Dang, I wish there more dates on the calendar....especially down south.
Oh well, maybe they're recording.
youtube... hey as part of my job as moderator I try to keep things light and happy here...
Remember what Dickey said, " We don't keep score "
it's ALL ABOUT Being Happy and Having a Good Old Time
Capn, where in the world did you come up with that? Hilarious!

Everybody get over to the Forum and check out the thread Capn started called Target Practice. Our man, Dobro, has written a hilarious new verse for Ramblin' Man! I'd post it here but you need to see it in the context of the thread. Dobro, I tip my hat to you, sir!
Tony, I'm with you. I hope someday maybe Gregg and Dickey decide to have their bands appear on the same bill and maybe take the stage together at the end or something. Nothing wrong with dreaming.
I'm kind of pissed about Warren and Derek right now, though. That performance they gave Sunday was insulting. It was like the bare bones minimum effort they could get away with and they are doing it because they don't want the ABB to outshine their own bands - that's my opinion. It sucks. I had thought they were two pretty selfless people but I'm getting a very different picture now. They have their nerve taking peoples money and not delivering their very best on the stage. Neither of those guys would be anywhere without the Allman Brothers Band's fans - at least nowhere near where they are now professionally.
All opinions welcome, Mike!
Be careful what ya wish for.
Those two may bury their hatchets in each others head... or back.
Hey! I never cheered the Dolphins 🙂 Although Marino was the classiest and best. As for ABB, I'll keep this unfounded hope that someday Gregg and Dickey, in some green meadow far away from us and anyone, meet and have a hachet burying party. OK, time to quit dreamin' and start the day...
There is no doubt that Dickey's sound could never be replaced. Or Gregg.
The Dolphins haven't nearly been the same since Marino, but hey. Alot of people still cheer for them too.
