Chris - if it fits your concept for the CD, add a good pedal steel to the song. I worked in a band long ago with that instrumentation and it sounded great. Totally fits the song.
I was just talking with Capn over on Facebook about Blue Sky. I mentioned that I play an acoustic version of it. The problem with that is it's actually a very short song! It seems that as soon as you start it, it's over. So I re-arranged it and added a few parts, extending what is already there. There's an outside chance I may record it on my next CD.
Happy Birthday, Adam Spero!
Long may you run..
Looking forward to a visit by touring br'er KEY WEST CHRIS.... This SATURDAY, Anna Marie Island...where the br'ers (and Gregg solo) used to hang, rehearse and play local gigs... wayyyyy back in the day

29 again this year ?
WOW Dobro... I just went through that same thought process RE: Blue Sky... having listened to a hundred versions... abb now wit the noodling ( dueling slide )... -=DDT=- ala R&R HOF... ART PARK, with Chet, Gena & Hayli.... and current with Kach handling Duane's part....the Jerry tribute (F'sT)
Nothing ever will replace Duane & Dickey...simple as that...soooo the ORIGINAL will always hold that Special Place !!!
Good stuff!
Perhaps it's just not possible these days, but just once, I would love to hear Blue Sky done in the original EAP tempo and rhythm. I dig the whole Franklin's Tower thing, but the way the first version rolls along, to me, is what puts this tune into the "Smoothness Hall of Fame". I love how the verses and chorus set the feeling, and then Duane fires it up with the first solo and passes to Dickey with that legendary harmony line. Thinking back, that song says a lot as to who would end up steering the ship. Songs will evolve after playing them for so long, but I sure wouldn't mind the boys taking Blue Sky Back to Where it All Begins!
Have a great day!
Feel the saaaaame waaaaaaaaayyyyyyy!

Enjoy this Bobby Charles tune - it's a favorite of mine.
had a dream of a fast movin train
bound to take me far away
for a sushine holiday
been watching palms and birds of paradise
then opened eyes and realized
that train arrived at destination home
noises from the bedroom
faces in codachrome
hadnt been dreaming on my own
gonna ride me a southbound... until that train, runs outta track
When your only liquid asset is morning coffee, ya gotta sing them blues
