pintobean - great video of a true bluesman. You're right about the guitar, one of the wierdest I've ever seen, but it works for Bernard.
Leaving the stage and wondering through the audience is an old, tried and true, gimmick. The other guitar player in my band does it at least once a night. Howlin' Wolf used to do the same with a really long patch cord. He was known to actually leave the clubs he was playing in and walk down the black a ways.
Neat stuff and a great find.
This is one of - if not THE - greatest live performances I have EVER seen! Be sure to watch the WHOLE video or you'll miss what I'm talkin' about! And check out the guitar this guy is playing - outa site!

Dobro - I have no idea what kind of guitar JW's playing in that video. The finish looks like Fender, and the headstock (kind of), but I've never seen a 12-string Fender before.
Sounds pretty good tho....
Thank you brother Neil H.. aka CanPeach. I really appreciate your kindness.
So, I'm in Orlando this week. Anybody around here from Orlando?

Hey all,
Another toast to Johnny Winter. Here's young Tommy Shannon doing cool bass chords on a Jazz, and JW breaking out the slide. The kid at 19:20 could have been me, mezmerized by the music, and perhaps the corn-cob pipe.
nacm, what was that guitar?

Tcat, just for you! You are in for one HELL of a show! I don't know if I don't prefer BOTC over DB&GS. Nothing against the Cat in the Hat, but Pedro and Duane have a crazy groove that you can't stop!

Looks like we'll have Brethren of the Coast with Dickey at the Sweetwater.
Not seeing them share the other bills with Dickey. What a treat!
Cap'n, I'm not familiar with their music, what can we expect? Thanks...
Johnny's album ''Nothing But The Blues'' (with Muddy's band as his accompaniment )from around that same time period is some great blues, as are the 3 records he cut for Alligator - ''Guitar Slinger'', ''Serious Business'', and ''Third Degree''.
Just think - at the old Fillmore East we had Mike Bloomfield and Johnny Winter cutting heads on "It's my own fault" and now, somewhere, it could be happening again.
Johnny's work on Muddy Waters' album, "Hard Again" was exceptional - very traditional with just a touch of fire.
He'll be missed.
Ride in Peace, John Dawson Winter.
One of my greatest musical experiences was seeing Johnny Winter And double billed with The ABB at the Jax coliseum.
A Firebird and a black top hat. That's pure rock and roll.
Hey, Bananaman, you got lucky! REALLY nice choice, Rainy!
