Everyone should know that Wally pintobean's outrageous post below is merely him taunting me.
I just didn't want anyone to think he had actually gone full retard or anything.
Obviously nobody REALLY thinks that the ABB has in any way holding Dickey back from being more successful in his career since 1999. Right??
Carry on.
I agree with Brian Johnson :D.
I can't say that I disagree with what Brother Jonesy said. Although, it really doesn't bother me to see Allman Mule Truck band or the wheels falling off or any of that stuff on a DB website. Actully, I prefer Allmuck in place of Allman Mule Truck.
I definitely don't mean or intend to disrespect Brother Jonesy views, 'cause I got nothing but love and respect for any and everything that he has ever written, including the one he just posted. Mary is a different story entirely.
I've only got one problem with Gregg, Butch, and Jaimoe and that is booting Dickey out of the band, how they did it, and demanding he get treatment. Hypocritical BS IMHO. That and the way they have constantly bashed Dickey over the years.
Definitely agree about Warren and Derek. Class acts for sure. Just prefer to have Dickey in the mix for ABB music.
"BTW there is no need to say the wheels are falling off the ABB. They are no longer going to be playing and that is it. I have a lot of respect for Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, two of the best around. Jaimoe has always been cool and Gregg is a legend. Hopefully his health wiill endure. Butch has brought himself under fire, and rightfully so, but he was always one of the best drummers i saw."
Well said Jonesy!
🙂
I'm happy to hear your perspective, Jonesy! Whatever happens with Dickey only the good Lord knows, but to me it would be terrific to see him filling up some big halls again and for him to feel the gratification of that widespread appeal that he once enjoyed before he was cast into the shadow of Allman Mule Truck. Go listen to the Jimmy Herring interview that TennKev posted this morning if you disagree with that characterization, but the zing of the Allman Brothers Band left for good the day Dickey was cast out. Now that they will be out of the way, it is my hope that more and more people will "come home" and focus on "Where It All Begins"!

I expect a Beacon Run & Wanee next year.... too much $$$$ to pa$$ up
I hope to see Dickey at Pete's wedding next month....
Pedro & Duane too, we miss them since they went west
Have a GREAT WEEKEND, "y'all are a great bunch"
"It just seems like all the biorhythms are in sync for Dickey and his extended musical family at this point in time. Glowing reviews across the Nation and hopefully a new cd in the works - who knows the Cat in the Hat might be poised for a resurrection of the celebrity and popularity which he has always justly deserved but has UNJUSTLY been deprived"
Pintobean Dickey has had a ton of celebrity and popularity. Nobody took that away from him and from what i can tell, most people within the industry view him as legendary. Wasn't he voted in the top 100 guitarists in Rolling Stone too?
He has played some recent shows that have gotten excellent reviews. He has played 24 shows this year, with half in the last 5 weeks, and has nothing scheduled the rest of the year. I think people will always go see him play, and he may see a small increase in crowds (he plays very small places) as a result of the ABB disbanding. But i don't think he is ramping up for a DB resurgence.
I am just glad he is playing better than recent years. I saw some of the recent videos and he looks and sounds good. that is great.
BTW there is no need to say the wheels are falling off the ABB. They are no longer going to be playing and that is it. I have a lot of respect for Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, two of the best around. Jaimoe has always been cool and Gregg is a legend. Hopefully his health wiill endure. Butch has brought himself under fire, and rightfully so, but he was always one of the best drummers i saw.
USC Gamecocks vs Texas A&M Aggies tonight at 6:00 Eastern time! Should be a great game!
Thanks, Tyler. It just seems like all the biorhythms are in sync for Dickey and his extended musical family at this point in time. Glowing reviews across the Nation and hopefully a new cd in the works - who knows the Cat in the Hat might be poised for a resurrection of the celebrity and popularity which he has always justly deserved but has UNJUSTLY been deprived.
Local review in San Fran from Sunday's show...
" Southern rock legend Dickey Betts and Great Southern made a rare Bay Area performance Sunday night at a sold out Sweetwater show in Mill Valley. His performance with his band Great Southern included his son Duane, named after the late Allman Brothers guitarist, on lead guitar. Duane’s band Brethren of the Coast warmed up the night. During Dickey’s set the relatively small stage was filled to the brim including two drummers on risers. With a packed house and stage the band ripped through classics such as In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, Ramblin Man, and Jessica, which Betts won a Grammy for in 1996. Dickey and the band played a phenomenal set heating up the room to a boiling point. Dickey’s signature style was on display throughout the night with the harmonizing octaves of the lead guitars bringing it back to where it all began. "
Wally I hope the next time I or another member here treats a female with a lack of respect you will have the spine to speak up for what is right.
GENUINE SINCE SIXTYNINE !!
Hey there! Right on Walter! I feel the same about the magic Dickey brings to the table. Something really special. Let's keep the train rollin'!
Good to see you Brother TennKev! Great Jimmy Herring video! I loved it! Thanks for sharing! I have so much more respect for Jimmy and his honesty! It's very refreshing to hear.
Dickey is all about less talk and more action. He says way more to folks through what he does than any spoken word. And when he does talk...it really means something. Very Genuine!
😎
Just another deflection.
Oh we all understand your sensitivity towards women, baby boy.
Incredible.
Wow now it's a joke to you. Just WOW.
LOL... Come forward all ye downtrodden women whom I have offended and I will gladly apologize!
I might be the biggest ahole anyone here has ever met, Wally. HOWEVER
This does NOT excuse your habitual poor treatment of women around here.
It says alot about you that you can't even muster the slightest apology to those you've offended, rather you just double-down and try and make it about me.
Like I said, nice try. It's all here for all to read. You are in the court of public opinion now. I've copied all your posts so don't try deleting anything.
