Willie is very proud of the fact that his CARS are featured in Return to Macon County (or was it Macon County Line - I'm not sure - RD would know better). He was even filmed driving one but he ended up on the cutting room floor. I hear Dickey is in one scene walking out of a bar but I have yet to be able to spot him. I hate to mention Almost Famous right now but seeing the card playing scene with the band holding cards up to their foreheads brought back memories ("what the hell are they doing?"). I always have to laugh though when I see Rush. I believe Gregg was badly miscast as a drug dealer. LOL.
Well, I logged on this morning with a slight twinge of trepidation but I see that we have the power to return our GB home back to normal. I have to hand it to Lefty who has always advised me not to engage a troll (whether he/she is a suspected known entity or not). Once I stopped, it was over. Back to our regularly scheduled program of love and hope springs eternal. Red Dog, so glad to see you came right back. That's my boy! Today I get to go spend my foodstamps! No more pizza, at least for awhile. God is good. Remember, there's a blue sky above them clouds. Everyone have a great day.
I saw the movie "The Departed" last night. Good movie, has a bunch of good actors in it. About five or ten minutes into the movie, a bar fight happens and the music in the back ground is Allman Brother. It comes across real clear as Gregg is singing might be your man I don't know.
So the little drummer boy you opened yer yap once again. You are nothing but a self serving bastard who has ruined the the reputation of the band for your own personnel gain. We wont forget that instead of helping Berry you wanted to replace him. So Moogis is on life support now. How you begged for early renewal on subscriptions for the new york run at the same price as the year before but with less shows. Did your fans get a refund? Oh and we can’t forget how your immaturity showed brightly when you slammed the Black eye peas. You suck Trucks. You have ridden the coat tails of Duane, Berry, Dickey and Gregg all your sorry life. By the the way where is that pop song that Dickey had prevented you from writing all those years ago? It has been ten years since you fired Dickey and I still see no writing credits to you. So now the ABB is nothing but a cover band with nothing new to offer. The little drummer boy you can dish it out in the press and slam anyone and everyone. But you can’t take it. You hide like a little punk. No wonder Dickey poked you a couple times. For those of you that will defend the little drummer boy ,don’t bother slamming me all you’ll get out of me is a good laugh. And Red Dog you definitely have more credibly and honesty than the little drummer boy any day! Dan
I prefer not to have the post below "end the evening", so Im adding a post.heh heh I love Coca-Cola. I believe carbonated drinks are not good for you, so I generally avoid them. Coke. Im a snob. I like the 6oz ones in a glass bottle. They taste better than plastic bottles.
keep deflecting meanwhile im a nasty person but you have to restrain yourself from writing hate mail to butch trucks Psycho
That's "hypocrite". The website automatically underlines misspelled words but it doesn't automatically double space. Someone named Angela.....
Go away ... come back Tuesday...
I did nothing but criticize red dog for doing the same exact thing you are mad at butch for somehow it is ok for red dog to be a dick but not anybody else hypicrite
And you are simply a nasty person, whoever you are.
you chicks are so far from reality its pathetic
There is no "Report Post" option on the GB. I suggest we all PM Rowland and ask him to remove this loose lips who is adding unnecessary fuel to the fire that is raging.
It's a good thing I was at work today. I just typed this long hateful diatribe against Butch and got a phone call from a friend who is hurting and realized I don't need to add to the hurt that is being thrown around here. There is a brotherhood still; it's here. Rick, you just said as much. Red Dog, this is a place you have come for the support and love that you need and deserve. Don't let anybody bully that away. We need YOU here as much as YOU need us. Please stay. I have used this GB as a place to air my troubles and I have gotten nothing but love in return. If you have nothing positive or loving to offer, then leave. Hate, resentments, meaningless excuses and explanations, and, most of all, anger are the work of the devil. Whatever happened in the past is irrelevant. It's as simple as this - there is a basic law of human kindness - you don't hit somebody when they're down no matter what. It is cruel and thoughtless.
Hey john.. glad to see you post.. It is great to have our small group, hold onto each other and support not only Dickey but our beloved Red Dog.. Look, not to rehash it all... but it is a sad day when a long time friend who had your back for many years can come on site as a spoke person for the ABB at times , and attack Red Dog , knowing he has a serious health problem.. that tells so much about the man who sits in the back of the ABB , bangs out the tunes... Red Dog has every legit reason to post on the ABB/DB sites... he talks about his life and experiences with and with out the band... we are fans and know the history of how it began and how Red Dog became who he is among the Band... He has his grievances and who hasn't with their employers and this is a way for him to express them, as it is a way for Butch as well to make unkind remarks about Dickey and Red Dog on site.. and in public places... Butch is a Hot Head.. and mean spirited... Red Dog has a heart and is kind, makes a point with out insulting... does not like unkind words... unless pushed... Butch has stuck his finger in the chest.. shame shame on you.. it is between them and I feel badly for all involved... Red Dog, Joseph... strong vibes sent your way... 😀 May you stay safe and out of harms way Frankie... Good Luck... peace to you...

That is a great post Rick... so heartfelt and a great description of what the Brotherhood and we as ABB/DB fans are all about... I need to read that one again...
WTF... leave it up luke... i was standing right next to ya. we both looked at each other and shook our heads in disbelief... no class even at a memorial service with so many people around.................
Was Butch ever really committed to the Brotherhood??? That is a question for the ages..... If you define what "the Brotherhood" was-or is-within the Allman Brothers Band, its inner circle, or its fan base there would be similar lines of thought. In the core id, the Brotherhood is a oneness of experiencing and savoring the emotional and sensual messages within the music. Its that engagement and exchange of collective soul, coming together and with unison, reaching out into the spiritual world...being drawn back in...and collectively reaching out higher and with more passion and energy, back and forth in musical love almost in intercoursal fashion until the collective has put it all out there. Baring their musical reach until naked. Reaching out and savoring more until the body cannot give, and the mind cannot understand what actually took place. But the heart remembers. And the Brother (Sister-one in the same here) remembers. His heart is full, and at the same time, he accepts what he experienced and wants to repeat that experience. Not in the way a addict craves a high, but in the way a broken heart found safety and refuge. In the case of the addict, you have to give nothing and selfishly take. In the Brotherhood experience you realize you have to expose your heart, experience, and in return give of yourself in order to remain in the sweet spot. So, a Brother learns the path. He understands and focuses on what he craves, and what he must give in order to fully experience the ultimate...what Duane referred to as Hitting the Note...a place ALL people have the capability to experience, but truly in this culture few have actually experienced. That place where music is the vehicle...and the payload is the emotional footprint of that collective musical convergence. An emotional tuning fork perfectly balanced with Duane/Gregg/Berry/JJ/Butch, combined with the collective soul of music lovers, and lovers in general, who boarded that ship. The Brotherhood therefore is a place you never wanted to leave. You would want, as a musician, to pleade and do your part to recreate that payload every time you performed. Who was going to begin that night? When would the first emotional tuning fork be raised, begging for others to see it, feel it, and join?. And in the crowd...could you spot the tuning forks on stage? Could you also contribute your own? Your friends around you never got it, did they? You would be in a stupor, not from drugs, but from the music, and your friend was clueless......that is because Brothers and Sisters...the Brotherhood, read the spiritual aspect of the musicians on stage, and carried that experience...remaining in that sweet spot....to their core. Others see it as good quality music. They never then, nor now, understand. Given the above, a person moves in and out of that sweet spot place. In particular a musician who becomes sad and frustrated he can no longer expect those tuning forks to be raised. You cannot find it with your bandmates. You cannot drivea guitar player to speak directly from his most inner sanctum to his fingers. You cannot hold that moment and leverage it. So, you simply play. You simply perform. And at that moment, your perspective changes. Music becomes work. When the music becomes work, all you have then is a series of frustrating memories for what was. The id does not exist onstage. Those fans, and those replacing musicians, who never got it are still happy...the music itself sounds the same. But the Brotherhood knows its not the same. Because the Brotherhood is comprised of music player, bandmates, and lovers all alike, the collective then can keep the hope and desire alive. That has been the case here with the wanderers for years. Year after year, night after night, the collective has kept the dream alive. The Beacon potential reunion was an excellent example; it was not to hear Dickey play Ramblin Man. It was the collective trying to open the door to see if those musicians would go back to the sweet spot, hold up their emotional tuning forks, and experience it again. With that, the question becomes who wants to remain in that zone called the Brotherhood? Many have left from sheer frustration...but they wander nevertheless. Some hold true to the core and contend its still possible. And some want nothing more than to live by what they were taught and experienced first hand. They never want to wander away from that core. When road tired brothers and sisters meet up, from the first hug, kiss or handshake, you know its for real in them. They are dedicated and wear their emotional trip counters with love. And most importantly, they encourage and nuture that experience with their Brothers and Sisters. Because they understand what a Brother or Sister had to lay on the table in order to become the collective. In this world and society, the hardest thing a human can do is to mentally and emotionally let go. In a crowd of Allman Brother fans, you can literally visualize those that can and have from those who are too frightned to go there, or too angry to allow it.
Great post Rick. Excellent points.
