Love and good vibes to everyone. Merry Christmas, Happy Hannuka or whatever you celebrate.
Nice post Rick -- the world spins fast & can take its toll on us humans -- this I know very well from personal experience/failures -- it's good to have a cyberspace of love/healing/encouragement/props -- I've experienced many times before here, how welcome & appreciated cyber-penpal friendship is --
what you say about Lamar also -- had the 12/31/73 Cow Palace jam on over the weekend -- that blues jam/YDLM/CBUnbroken/Mtn. Jam -- with Dickey, Chuck, Lamar, Jaimoe & Bill Kreutzman -- Lamar is the star of that jam -- it's my favorite playing of his w/the ABB, this one & 5/1/73 Nassau -- he was a tremendous musician, whose playing was destined to only be best appreciated with the passage of time, unfortunately -- At That Time, people often expected a Duane/Berry type show, which wasn't too fair to Lamar...
but mainly -- Red Dog, Capn, Liz, Nic, those overlooked -- sincere best wishes -- heart is heavy for the Petty family in the loss of JJ -- let love light and Christmastime be all one
Seasonsgreetings to all brothers and sisters here.
Had a "pre"Christmascelebration too
this sunday,Nic.Great to hear that about Pam.
Good to see Jim and Tyler posting.
Thoughts are with Capn and RedDog.
Thank you to everyone here who called or sent me messages and got me through a very tough week. There were so many, I can't manage to answer them all. Just know how loved you are and how grateful I am to be here.
Thinking of you, Red Dog every day. Keep as comfortable as you can and follow your heart. We love and support you in your journey.
Have the best day you can and keep warm, brothers and sisters.
Hey Now!! Hey Tyler. Thanks for the Kind words Brother. I am doing fine. I hope you are doing well also.
Nice post Rick. I am also very fond of Lamar & JJ's playing. I spent quite a lot of time listening to that lineup. I think I once read that Jaimoe said it was Lamar that taught him what his right foot should be doing on the bass drum.
I started the day with a flat tire. I am awaiting AAA to come and change it. I am allowed 4 occurences a year and have used none. I may as well let them wrestle around in the snow and change it for me.
Pam has a Dr appointment today. She only has 2 weeks left in the cast. Yehaw!!!
Hey RedDog. I am thinking of you Brother. I hope you are feeling better.
I hope you all have a Safe & Goodtime week. Peach.
Nice post RickT...you got a way with words brother...
Dickey is Genuine...just like a lot of the good folks here...that's just a fact...
Sorry for your loss Capn...
Keepin' RedDog and Nic in my prayers like always...
.
Ive taken a step back of late to observe, and take note....
There are many...many...road warriors here. Some really fine and beautiful souls that are tired, and come here and stop by. To a casual observer, one might get depressed from the readings according to the saints here....ya got to know the family in order to really get it.
And in my opinion, having been around here and the ABB site for many years, THIS SITE (sorry Jim, stealing your style for a sec), builds the bondfire....Luke brings his sage, and its on..what I have noticed is for the most part the BS of politics and all that crap go away for a spell, and the real cats here understand the love of the cosmic transporter that is held in Brother Bett's hands...IS the platform we all wish to ride.
We dont fight here. Rarely is there the nonsensical BS that is accociated with the Blue Site. That is commendable in itself. There are a few scratch and sniffs; what my late friend Topper called bumpin pu...., but by and large the dynamic has shifted to genuine, if virtual, concern for a Brother or Sister.
It makes me want to dig in and play somewhere....not to play notes, but strive for hittin the note. Or hear someone else TRY to go there, if they have the heart and are fearless. Damn, I miss that. Hit the note on Old MacDonald had a farm; THEN i would be impressed. In other words, play whatever it is ya want to play as if God is calling you up Tuesday to sit in with Duane.
I was listening to Wipe the Windows driving up to NC today. Yeah, Rick we friggin know its your favorite all around ABB Album...yep, it is. Proven in my mind to be the Brothers at their individual bests.
God, Lamar Williams was a pure solid motherfooker on bass. So underrated and unappreciated. If you took time to really REALLY listen to what he and JJ laid down together.
The Band did not like the trappings, i.e. the mix, the yada BS....but the MUSIC....is so jewel-laden.
Brother Lamar. A drummer would be inspired by him. JJ played some of his best work on that album, but, ya have to dig in and listen.
Just focusing on Lamar today with that listening session.
Anyways, the point was the dynamic here. Group hug to fellow road warriors, and a pinch on the asss to the Sisters to let em know they are fine and appreciated.
Whoever is at the guard post keeping the Blue Site crazies away from here, SALUTE.
:dog: Joseph :inlove:
I am worried about you... hope you are Ok ????????????
Hey Now!! A Goodtime Sunday to you all. We are going to my sista Valerie's house today for the Family Christmas with my siblings. Of us the six of us four will be there today. My sista Stephanie has flown in from Florida as there has been a death of my Sister-in-law's Brother. I look forward to the gathering and will have a Goodtime.
Hey Terry. You and I have many mutual Friends in this world we call Rock and Roll. There is one thing in common with them all. They have all always spoken highly of you!! Never one bad word from any of them. You are a man of Class and Honor and I am fortunate to call you a Friend!!
I hope you all have a Safe and Goodtime Sunday. Peach.
