Allright, so here I am on a Friday night in my basement, the ballgame on the tv with the mute on, having a beer:haveabeer:
Multi-tasker that I am:lol::lol2: I'm also at my desk and computer, Dickey Betts cds spread out and a notepad in front of me.
My wife comes down and asks me what I'm doing.
I tell her I'm working on another Dickey Betts compilation.
She says, 'You mean like a job? Are you getting paid for this?"
Stay tuned:cool:
When you're 58, 12 years ago isn't that long.
Also, when you've been following the band
since 1969, the same is true.
Ironically, 1952 seems like a thousand years ago. Eisenhower was President and was soon to warn the country "beware the military/industrial complex". Not until we went to war with Iraq did this become blatantly evident when it was the truth all along.
Life, and our perspective of it, is something I can't even begin to understand. I just go with the flow.
Night, everybody. It's bedtime for Bonzo. 😉
Ironically, this "interview" is being hawked on the blue site, which I probably visit once every 5 years. Guess it's typical they tell everybody they're serving up a chocolate malt and then give'em liquid shoe polish. grrrrrrrr
What pi$$es me off is that Redbeard goes to such extraordinary lengths to create the impression that it is a new interview with Gregg and Dickey for the express purpose of celebrating the LFE 40th Anniversary. It's very deceitful and a blatant intentional misrepresentation. I don't think he should be able to operate that way. The interviews on his site are all good interviews and I think people would enjoy that website if he just told the truth about them. Oh well....
Pintobean... I was hoping the same as you... you'd have to think that at least sitting in the same room to pay tribute to all they have done would be feasible...
Well, I guess my hopes got in the way of my judgement, but listening to the SRV reference again, I believe Steve is correct that this is an old interview.
I guess that depend on your definition of "not that long ago" lol...
Stevie Ray was gone in 1990 & I think this interview was probably in 88 or 89...
Yeah, they're definitely together in this interview. It's NOT that long ago, in the scheme of things, that Dickey got faxed.
The bomb scare was a drag - thousands of people in the street. The narrator says that was one way "to get back stage". That was before doing so ever occurred to me....that was about a year later;)
The interview definitely includes Dickey and Gregg together but whether it's an old interview spliced into this format. This is absolutely DEFINITELY represented as Gregg and Dickey in the studio to discuss the 40th Anniversary of Live at Filmore East. And they are conversing together in this interview.
Hope some of you folks who are "in the know" will give this a listen and let me know whether this is real or a mirage. It's a great interview.
Wooohooooooo TGIF .
Congrats on the new cd ChrisR and glad to read everything is going ok in Key West. Got a message to you from FrankieBootleg, so check your pm's Bro.
Hoping, thinking, and sending good vibes to all the good folks on this site. Brother Nic, Dream Lady, Kitty, Amy, Luke & Gina especially come to mind for continued healing vibes.
Sorry I missed you call yesterday Brother Tyler. I'll try giving you a shout out this evening Bro.
Hope everyone has a great weekend and doesn't cook too much during this heatwave.
Damn edit button.
I wanted to mention that Nic and Pam - you two are in my prayers.
And, this weekend my friend Claire is driving into the Rocky Mountains, very deep in where her and her husband Doug used to camp. She is going to spread his ashes today. Please keep her in your prayers.
110 degrees in the shade today, they say. Guess I could handle FL.
The news mentioned an offshore storm that is kicking up big waves on Long Island which is a drag because I was planning on beaching it on Sunday and with it this hot, broiling on the sand doesn't sound like much fun. Got a new beach chair with a top to it and it's coming with me. Funny, my knee is so bad I can't get out of the damn chair without a hand from a friend.
Today is Sandy Blue Sky's birthday so send her your vibes and love.
Mitch, that was a cherished evening; even though I was inebriated, I do remember it! LOL.
Sounds like a great day at the beach, Rainy. Would love to do it with you sometime.
Great day all. Blue Sky day all.
Heh Hi everybody and Good Morning.. :sunny:
Love this quote from DB .. was on homepage..
And he said...
"I'm real thankful for having had "road schooling" really early. I learned music has nothing to do with how you move your hands and everything to do with what's in your heart."
-- Dickey Betts
Had a great day at Beach , Nic pampered, well maybe just alittle :)... started out very overcast... but by the time we had settled in the cabana and walked down to beach.. WOW... just perfect.. the ocean was very rough and we had a blast in out of the waves... just scary because of the rip tides and very strong current.. knocked over like bowling pins..
If anyone is familiar with the actor/writer from L.I Ed Burns ( love him  ) he did a movie with Jennifer Aniston called "She's the one" and there was a scene filmed right at those cabana's .. I recognized it immediately... Just alittle tidbit info.. also I believe he uses ABB/ Whipping Post in one of his scenes...
Also over on the ABB BigDaveOnBass posted in anything goes forum.. video from Butch's blog... Oh MY... go check it out... it is from 69' Atlanta I think.. Duane, DB, Berry... Gregg... Butch and Jaimoe.. what a treasure..
It's another HOT HOT day.. be careful all , drink plenty of water and listen to tons of Dickey Betts... Blue Sky, Jessica...
IMOER Oh yeah...
Prayers and well wishes to all...
:dog:  :inlove:
unfortunately that interview sounds like it was done quite a long time ago... Dickey refers to Stevie Ray in the present tense...
Check this out. New radio interview to celebrate 40th anniversary of Live @ FE and Dickey and Gregg are together in the studio!

Hey Chris, thats good news...and long time no see:cool:
I went to Key West about 9 years ago and loved it. I am a big fan of Papa and wish I could live in his old house there, its magnificent.
Was reading about the Hemingway days festival today, I'd like to come down one year and see that. Who knows, in a few years I might even be able to enter the Hemingway look alike contest:lol::lol2:
Okay, need a cold beer, its damn hot, even up here north of the border:haveabeer:
