And he said... "We have always tried to keep our music honest and fun. To try to make it a transcendental experience for the audience, rather than create chaos or get people riled up." -- Dickey Betts

Hey Nic, that is cool your hometown kid has made it. Hope he gets to see some action, the Packers are awesome this year. I think they may go undefeated, as hard as it is in the NFL. William "The Frig" Perry is from Aiken, still lives here. Aiken felt the same way when he was drafted by da Bears. Always love to see hometown kids do well, no matter what sport.

In 2006 Piqua won an Ohio State Football Championship. Our star running back Brandon Saine won the Ohio Mr Football title that year. Brandon went on and started as a running back for The Ohio State Buckeyes for four years. He was signed by the Greenbay Packers as an undrafted free agent and made the practice squad there at the end of the 2011 pre-season. It was announced by the Packers yesterday that Brandon Saine, # 33 has been activated to the NFL lineup!!! It is so cool to see a local young man make the big time. Brandon is a very polite young man and we here in Piqua are very happy to celebrate his success!!!! Peach.

Hey Jonesy. Thanks for sharing. I do also remember all those years where there was no internet to connect and talk about our Love for the Music. It seems today that the gathering at times is more about the fellowship and less about the music. I know that is true for me at this site. I do still try to put the music first when attending live shows. I was just chatting about the Lanaroo gatherings we attended in Elwood City with a Friend last night from the ABB site. We went for the fellowship and the music took over. Matt Barranti & his band would come as did Lefty once. Those were some great jams in that honky tonk bar!!!! 😎 Goodtimes!!! Going fishing this afternoon. 😎 Beautiful Blue Sky day in Ohio!!! Life is good!!!! Peach.

TennKev, you would have really dug those shows. When I saw Betts in 1974 at Radio City, he came out in a white vested outfit, really different than when I saw him with the ABB the first time. His playing was just phenomenal. It was weird to be in Radio City for that kind of show but quite comfortable unlike Roosevelt Stadium shows). The ABB reunion show in Central Park was probably the most intense show I've ever been at, primarily because of the anticipation and energy leading up to it. DB and GS were playing, and there were rumors the rest of the ABB were showing up to play. Now that show was in 1978 (August 16 to be exact) and thus, no internet, cell phone, or anything like that, so the rumors were verbal, via telephone etc. DB and GS played a smokin set, and then at one point towards the end, Dickey tells the crowd something like "we've got some old friends comin' out to join us" and Gregg, Butch and Jaimoe walk out. The place went crazy, and they launched into a raucuous version of One Way Out. Good memories!
