For the sake of harmony and respect, I say this. I am truly glad to see the band honored as they deserve every accolade. I was pleased to see the acknowledgement of Duane and Berry, even if Duane's own brother did not have one one for him. Silence ain't golden anymore. Brother Dickey, it was you who kept this band alive and going after Duane and Berry passed. It was your song contribution that gave the band it's greatest recognition. The 'other Brothers' so conspicuously left out.... Jack, Dan, Lamar, Rook. At least Woody got a mention. So nice to see Galadrielle, Berry Jr. and Brittaney share for their fathers. Lots I could say, but I will leave it with my congratulations and hope for future inspiring music from my favorite band since '69. Thank you Duane. Maybe now more of these so-called 'fans' will honor you and your legacy. Jammin' for Duane, everyday.

Congratulations to Brother Dickey Betts for the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Your leadership, songs, and great playing kept things going and flourishing after the loss of Duane and Berry when many of us thought things would die. Thanks for the great music, Original Brother Dickey Betts.

Hey...piece of shitt PRINE... Well, your pseudo lover, Claude, was apparently drunk. Of course in your overwhelming glee to circle jerk in Claude-ville, you ardently trash Betts, yet completely ignore what is in front of your booger infested redneck nose; your boy was DRINKING. You idiot. Claude, your "life" is nothing but a sad reflection of a pair of great musicians. The dust sweeper in the Band, claiming to be on equal footing with TWO of the all-time greatest guitar players. Its akin to saying your role was on equal footing with Steve Jobs. Keeping the Band in time is not the same as giving them a voice, giving life to words, creating musical arrangements. But I'm happy you think so.....

A quote from someone on the ABB site.. I won't put their in case they don't want to be acknowledged for it..I got a chuckle out of it, Thanks and you know who you are.. Clearly Dickey Betts didn't show up because he knew he'd have to listen to Butch's stories...  Also this is DB web site and Yeah Man I am a FAN of his... forever and always that is why there is a GB so we can express our kind thoughts and thanks to him.. :clapping: :guitar: :guitarist: :guitar: :dog: :dog:  :inlove:

IMHO, if Duane were alive to "Give thanks" for the "award"... even Mama Hill and Mama Louise would have been mentioned...

others who seemed to be forgotten: Tom Dowd, WHP, Augie, Joe Dan, Twiggs, Toler Brothers, Lamar... but at least Claude "didn't use the "N" word" proving that like his windbag neighbor Limberger he ain't a racist... I am glad Dickey did NOT GO... seriously, Claude said himself once... " another doorstop" best wishes for health and happiness to all you "FAMILY" who have been "Genuine since 69" you ALL know who you are...

Bardstown was great fun. What a great night of music in a beautiful park in the Kentucky countryside. Neil and Cindy bunked with us that night. Had a great time hanging with my brother Nic that night.

I too just watched the awards giving - bad video. At any rate, Gregg said it best - it's about the fans. I like the fact that he thanked Bill Graham because he was pivotal in making them huge. His not mentioning Phil or Dickey was in blatant bad taste. He thanked his mother for goodness sake. Jaimoe was downright funny, yet humble and real. Butch is a windbag - he did say one good thing and should have left it at that - "Thank you Duane Allman for giving me my life". I think we all share that sentiment in some way; I sure know that I do. I'm sure they'll find a Grammy for Dickey. Chuck was as gracious as always mentioning his wife Rosie and their two daughters. Galadriele and Brittany's speeches were heartfelt. BO Jr. was very gallant for letting his sister speak. I didn't watch Warren, Derek or Eric - for me, what they had to say didn't matter even though they've been members for a very long time now. Just didn't matter.

Good Old Sunday Morning :sunny: Nice to see you posting once again Blackey.. I watched just a few minutes ago the awards where the band members spoke .. Butch is like a windbag for crying out loud. Must admit knowing ahead what most them already said I turned it off on Warren, he should have made a mention of Thanks to DB personally..but as you go down the road of life sometimes we forget where all out success started .. Oh Well... Dickey Betts if your out there and ever read this fan GB , I just want to say I am still one of your biggest fans from over 40 yrs ago. Your guitar playing, musical compositions , melody , exquisite tones are magical.. Thank you for all the music you created and were part of in the ABB. There is great appreciation for you and Big Thanks that you continue to play / tour around some for your fans,. WE love you... Merci :dog:  :inlove:

Yeah Nic I liked that lineup too. I have a few ABB albums signed by everybody but Duane and Berry. And my copy of Pattern Disruptive I got signed by Dickey at the front of his tour bus in 1988 and he was real friendly. That is when I found out the backing singing on Dickey's song "Revival" from the second ABB album is everybody in the band. The liner notes don't say who it is and I could tell it was several of the guys but which ones. And Dickey said "I know it doesn't sound like it but it's all six of us. All six of the original band members". I hope Dickey gets a lifetime achievement grammy. If you get to see the presentation, if it runs that long, look and listen carefully and you will noticed Chuck Leavell asking the man on the stage about a grammy for Dickey and he said they were all handed out and he would check on it or something to that effect. I hope for some reason they decided not to have one made for Dickey. It was probably an oversight but I stick with my guess which is just a guess. When it came down to it, Dickey just couldn't get around Butch Trucks and Butch was clearly rather blasted on booze it seemed to me because he may have been expecting Dickey to be there and it was not exciting to him. I read Butch say when I thought that Dickey may come to the 40th anniversary Beacon shows "If Dickey shows it is going to be tough because there is some real bad blood between him and me". I'm guess those two REALLY dislike each other and Dickey will never have anything to do with an ABB event if Butch is involved. But that is just a guess. I don't know Butch or Dickey at all. I've met them a few times over the years at shows but they wouldn't remember me.
