Would like to see Dickey go on a little solo acoustic tour...
Gregg coming to Bay St. Loius in July :clapping:
Thanks for the info
Mike- that's a really funny one about the typo.
BTW, "When you come to a fork in the road, take it" actually makes sense in context. It was directions to Yogi's house. He lived on a loop, so, whichever way you turned at the fork, you get there.
More Yogi:
"When you come to the fork in the road...take it".
Playing in New York..."It gets late, early here".
When Yogi noticed the paper had him going 2 for 3 in the box score. He called the paper to complain, "I went 3 for 3". The paper told him it was a typographical error... and Yogi told them," bull$hit, it was a clean single to left field".
Happy 90th birthday to Yogi Berra. Here's a few yogisms for our entertainment.
You should always go to other people's funerals. Otherwise they won't come to yours.
We're lost, but we're making great time!
A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore.
Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded.
The towels were so thick there I could hardly close my suitcase.
You better cut the pizza in four pieces. I'm not hungry enough to eat eight.

tbomike - thanks for the article about BB King. I certainly hope that the horror stories I've heard are untrue. But, you'll note that the real reason the complaint got thrown out is that all of King's children had not received notice of the hearing. So, there hasn't yet been a ruling (as opposed to a comment) on the merits.
Let's all hope that Mr. King recovers.
Let's all support Dickey with our Sympathies and hope He returns to play the best Southern Rock there is.

Duane is hittin' the road:
Duane Betts is Now a Member of Dawesā Touring Band
Dickey Bettsā son Duane Betts in a now officially a member of Dawesā touring band. In a recent interview with Relix/Jambands.com, Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith confirmed that the guitarist, who has played with his fatherās band Great Southern for many years, is now a part of the team.
Though he was not a part of the recording sessions that led to the groupās new album All Your Favorite Bands, he has taken the stage with the group during all of their most recent shows, including last monthās performance on the The Late Show with David Letterman.
On the subject of Bettsā status in the band, Goldsmith said:
Well, heās on the stage with us. He didnāt play on the record. He kind of came into it after that. Heās been a friend for a long time. But yeah, when weāre onstage and I say, āHey, weāre Dawes, thanks for coming,ā and heās standing on the stage, you know? I mean, who knows what the future holds ā we donāt wanna put that kind of pressure on him or anything. But right now, yeah, heās in the band.
Goldsmith also added:
Well, weāve been friends for a long time, and heās incredibly musical, but heās also very, very tasteful. And I know thatās what everybody says about the guitar player they like, but with himālike, there was one show where, afterwords, Duane and I were standing next to each other, talking with some fans, and one guy came up to him and was like, āMan, you were so great, you were just shredding.ā And he kind of like laughed and shook his head and said, āIf I was shredding, then something was wrong.ā And I really thought that was a cool comment for him to make, because it really spoke to the fact that he doesnāt play flashy, he doesnāt play to show you any tricks that he knows or how to wow you with dexterity or something. He plays very fluidly and very melodically and very expressively, and even when you watch him play, heās got this look on his face, like holding his breath almost, and heās singing this line for you through his guitar.
The places he gets into with his guitar, itās truly compelling, because it really feels like a guy singing and speaking in a way that a great soul singer might or something. And I think that he understands that musical language so deeply, from the world that he grew up in. I think that you can put him in front of any amplifier and heās gonna be able to cook it up in a way thatās gonna sound great. And heāll be able to talk to me about how to fill out the toneāsome things I donāt even understand what heās talking about, but itās another testament to how in deep connection he is with that language of music, and guitar playing particularly. He also recognizes that Dawes has been a band for a long time as this four-piece, and heās figured out a way ā rather than to shift our course ā heās able to recognize what it is we do and just make us sound better, rather than making us a different band.
So itās been really incredible to have him up there. And because he has that unique voice on his instrument, itās allowed us to play a lot more, actually. You know, before, when thereās just this one guy singing and this one guy playing all the guitar solos, then after two hours or so, itās like, okay, I think I get it, I think Iām done. Where as with Duane and this new voice ā weāve only played a couple full ā length shows with him so far, because things are about to get rolling ā but when we did, we would get to about two-and-a-half hours or something and be like, āthis could just keep rolling.ā And people donāt seem tired, and weāre not tired. So I think his presence has really given us a lot of new life and a lot of exciting possibilities for what we can do this summer.
What the judge hearing the complaint said about the B.B. King situation.

Here is a bit with some cool comments about Duane from Dawes.

What the hell is going on with BB King? I've heard horrible stories of elder abuse, manager draining bank accounts, home hospice care, heart attack, manager isolating Mr. King from friends who want to say their goodbyes (Clapton among them).

If half of this stuff is true that manager needs to be taken out and shot - I'll be delighted to pull the trigger.
Thanks for adding that one, Rainy. (I really enjoyed the Letterman retrospective last night...he certainly has a great respect for good music)
I'm digging this Dawes band. To me, the singer (Taylor?) has a cool Paul Simon vibe, very relaxed.
How cool is Duane on the national television stage? Cranberry pants, Goldtop with a Twin Reverb, and that tribal necklace, which may or may nor be a family hand-me-down.
I definitely get a Back to Where it all Begins feeling with this lineup! When we see and hear some of the stuff coming out these days, it's refreshing to know that there are bands out there that are real, and hold true to the music.
Hope you all are well.
