Well said, aiq!
That feature is edited from the interview and I always read them.
Many groups have had jealousy over the songwriting royalties.
I took away that once again Dickey doesn't get personal and takes the high road.
Living legend.
Interesting, for sure. It seemed more like a series of quotes or comments rather than interview. Gregg's showed some insight also.
There's both truth and humor in this sentence, and it's my favorite:
"I was pretty quiet. I am by nature, unless I get my chemicals mixed up."
Sounds like a "Mission Statement" from my family!
Happy Friday, everybody!
As for the interview…
My own take was yes, money and drugs were culprits which led to egos clashing which led to dissolution.
Another interesting comment surrounds Dickey playing to smaller crowds in smaller venues. Personally, I like it but I can see where that has to impact someone.
Dickey mentioned Gregg's voice, and I appreciated that.
Lets enjoy the music of Betts is what I say. The Brother can still lay it down.
Thanks Rainy for the reminder that you are never too old to rock and roll! Loved it.
Good Morning :sunny:
Thank you aiq for posting link to DB interview with Esquire.
It's refreshing getting all the info that you suspect to be just the way it is but actually reading it right from him.
I think after all these years it was time for DB to separate from the ABB 13yrs ago..it kept things changeling in new ways for him with younger musicians.
I think what I took away from that interview was that money was the culprit and personality conflicts.. which can apply to many working collaborations in life. It's knowing when to split and not have hard feelings that is the hardest.
I am happy and grateful for all the years that DB and GS gave so lovingly to all the fans when he certainly didn't have to tour again and to go on that hard road of tour dates, but it is in his blood and the road calls his name.. when he hears it ..takes his guitar and off he goes.. :clapping:
We thank him by showing up 🙂
just some thoughts.. and imo

And just to clarify, I only hate to agree with Brent about Saban, but am proud to agree with him about many other things.
Have to - don't want to - agree with Brent. Saban is a superb coach and he hasn't won his last national championship either. Alabama and Auburn $uck, though. USC Gamecocks are #1 and rising!
Alabama is STILL the best team in the nation. Saban is the best Coach, maybe of all time. ROLL TIDE!
How do you view photos? All I'm seeing is little squares.
Sorry if duplicated, a short Betts interview from Esquire.
