I Agree, it is a tribute to Dickey that the abb has never been able to put on a show WITHOUT his songs... They are a GREAT cover band, they cover his songs very well...

That tune is fair game for both bands as Dickey and Warren wrote it. Same thing with Kind of Bird.

Oh by the way I thought the True Gravity performance was stellar. It's unbelievable how tight they were having not played this complex piece in so long. Great stuff. Sorry in advance if anyone finds that offensive.

Hi peacemaniac sorry the music video upset you! It was not my intention to hurt you but rather to share some music the Brothers haven't played in many years. It is their last year you know! I thought it was interesting they played an entire Dickey set the other night. What a great tribute to Dickey's legacy. Can't believe I have to apologize for posting a video of the Allmans playing Allman Brothers music. This website is a real trip sometimes, I can't figure why nobody posts here anymore.

It's a quote from Dickey out of Alan's Book: Page 346: "I'm just real disappointed in the way this all went down, but I'm not going to bad mouth any body in print. No matter how nasty those guys can get, I won't do that to them. But I think the band broke up in 2000 and I think it's been a copy band ever since. If you enjoy going to see warren and derek play my and Duane's stuff, that's fine. You won't have to feel guilty... I'm trying to be a gentleman, but all I can say is they still play my songs, but if you come hear my band, you will not hear "Melissa."

Thanks for the kind words on the book down below. Wish I could have made a show... But I've just been burning it so hard on the book I couldn't do it... planned on driving to penns peak last night but i was a zombie. the drive would have been a hazard. You all might enjoy this WNYC interview did for the Soundcheck show: Listening guide to the ABB... http://wny.cc/PkItlt

Yep, that was from sat night in Jersey. The same show laurent reviewed before his/her post was deleted. Undeleted reviews of that show are mixed and available here: http://www.allmanbrothers.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=XForum&file=viewthread&tid=133858 and also here: http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/backstage/292042-going-see-dickey-betts-tomorrow-night.html The video sounds pretty good to me, agree on Andy's slide work being sweet. The beginning starts out pretty rough but it looks like not everyone in the band knew the tune.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIumuPwWIs0 Dickey playing Billy Joe Shaver song, Tramp on the Street. Also, enjoyed reading Alan's book "One Way Out." Read lots of stuff i did not know about the ABB, very cool. Also, read some disturbing things too, about Gregg, Dickey, a few others. But this question is about Dickey and some of you who know him can answer this, did Dickey and Alan Woody ever resolve their issue when Dickey pulled the knife on him and held it to his back? Had heard the story before but this is the first time I have read it "officially." Hard to believe Woody played with him again after that.
