Well, back off the road from 1 1/2 weeks on the road with Dickey Betts & Great Southern boys and we had ourselves a GOOD TIME! It has taken two days to recuperate and my voice has not come back yet from laughing and howling like a wolf. That Dickey Betts and Band were on fire this whole damn week from Memphis to the top of the Mountain in PA! He blazed his trail and I was lucky to be a part of the family and music and will treasure our memories forever. Sat nite after the gig, the guys went into the Hilton Bar for cocktails after the show and Frankie and Pedro and Carlos were singing and playing guitars until the wee hours of the am. entertaining ourselves and whatever people were lucky enough to be hanging out at the bar. Good times meeting and hanging with the Outlaws who opened for Dickey Betts & GS for several shows. Also had the pleasure of meeting Stephanie who is a concert photographer for the Outlaws, new friend! My special surprise after all these years was being at Mountain Sky and who walks up, it was Sari and Terri, for real. We had a great chat and lots of hugs. Frankie B you should have just come up my friend, good times! At the end of the day, I thank Forrest Richard Betts for the music and bringing us all together, Dickey Betts is the man... Love, Kimberly

Hey Dobro - please see my response to the post in the "Ode to Toy" thread. To repeat - it sounds like a strat and I've posted the way I can get a similar tone out of my strat. Good stuff, I'm always interested in gear - I just wish I could afford what I want.

Don't do skis, never have, never will. After the flooding last fall, the ground is still saturated, when all this white s*&^t melts, I'm afraid it will flood again - especially when it gets warm up above timberline. With all the debris satill in the local streams, local flooding is almost certain - hopefully not anywhere near the scale of last fall.

Great story, Dobro! Congrats, Tony! Will check that band later, Neil. Hope everyone in the whole fractured Dickhead family has a terrific weekend! We're holding it up here, folks - waiting to welcome everyone home in their own sweet time, esp the Rain Lady! Thanks to all you wonderful friends for keeping this friendly and enjoyable.

Great find on the original album, Bird! I read here a few years back about one of the guests who plays Mountain Jam as an annual Christmas morning ritual. I started doing the same and it adds nice flavor to whatever I'm cooking up for the holiday dinner. So, this past Christmas I dug out my original Eat A Peach album. (It has been replaced twice over...."workhorse" is the perfect term). Christmas morning, in front of parents and in-laws, I slid the original EAP out of the plastic cover. Out falls a pack of zig-zag wheat straws and about thirty seeds! My whole family busted out laughing! On a more somber note, I just read that founding Atlanta Rhythm Section bassist Paul Goddard passed away on April 29 from a sudden illness. Paul was once a member of The Candymen, Roy Orbinson's backing band. He had one of the most monstrous bass tones in all of rock and roll, and had rejoined ARS in the past year. His solo on Another Man's Woman was legendary, and can bring any guitarist to tears. RIP Paul, you influenced a bunch of players. Check out his work here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJ2murOTsRg&list=PLDF0CDE91C0FB73BF

Really cool find Bird - I haven't thought of that album packaging for decades. I'm really glad to hear that Dickey's still kickin' butt and taking names. Speaking of kicking - check out Registered Coonass by Jamey Bergeron & and Kickin' Cajuns - great tune, very funny lyrics, REALLY kickin band.

My old well played Fillmore East vinyl has seen better days, so when in a Seattle record store last weekend I looked for a replacement. Now, certain vinyls are very hard to find in good shape. Fillmore is one of them. It was a record often played at parties, played often, and it was an old workhorse in most collections. So most record store copies look like frat party debris. So when I found a fairly pristine original Capricorn pink label one, I about freaked! Who tucked that away and hardly played? So it is funny how the mind works. First thing I noticed is the inner jacket photos, the two-fold inner section was printed on matte, almost a ribbed type paper. (The subsequent tan label Capricorn issues like my old one are gloss paper inside). So this ribbed matte paper thing was a forgotten tidbit that when seen again this week tripped memories of how it was an album people used to roll and clean weed on (remember seeds?) The inside sleeve being ribbed and non gloss made it a perfect choice for that. I know, the most pointless post of the day, it is just funny how memories are tripped..... and the pics DO look great on matte stock...

Hello Dickey and Friends! I have been wanting to tell you what a wonderful and exciting time I had at your show at Potawatomi on April 17th. Such a fantastic, energetic and fun show! I have always wanted to see you perform. I just love your music so very much. Cool to see a couple generations performing together. I was there with my daughter. I 52, she half my age. Allman Brothers always one of my favorite groups for a long time. Love and got to see Gregg previously. But so much have been wanting to see Dickey for years and years!!!! So happy! I felt so blessed and transcended into a happy place during this show. My favs.... Blue Sky... Ramblin' Man... Back where it all Begins! Wanted to here Everybody's got a Mountain to Climb! My go to inspirational song for a decade or two... I love you! God bless you and yours with good health and prosperity. Love always, Your friend and fan forever! Keep up the awesome work!
