Hey Dobro - great deal on that '68. Even in the late 70's many people still didn't get it. They thought older guitars were just that - old. But, when I play my old Paul or listen to some older strats - there's a huge difference between the older ones and the newer ones.
Now that Gibson is doing reissues, that may change. But, the reissued Pauls are priced out of sight, and they weigh a ton.
