Yeah, Mike, we'd never hear anything nearly as pretty as Highway Call from Allman Mule Truck, would we? I'm surprised they haven't tried to cover it...

Gregg playing the Gretna Festival here in New Awlins in October...along with a few others...Skynard, The Funky Meters, Robert Randolph...and more national acts and many locals...they will announce the full line-up on Aug 15.
Hope Dickey is on the final list...I know he is a favorite of the promoters and I have gave them my request... and Dickey has played this event in the past.
Keeping my fingers and toes crossed...

Thanks, Ed!
Keep em comin folks...
To me, he just seems more balanced playing a Les Paul. That "Heart of Southern Rock" model is a fine example. Another one to add to the quiver. "Donna, honey, call that carpenter and tell him we need more closet space".
Wow... He's also changed to the Peavey 2-12 amps. (Peavey or JBL??)
Hartley Peavey must be walking taller these days with a mile wide grin.
"Dickey, honey, there's a big ol Peavey truck backin up to the front door"!
The bells were ringing that night roanoke!!!
Ed,
How did the southern rock les paul sound to you in person? Is Dickey playing through Peavey Classic 50's Amps?
Yep...Chuck and Dickey were a beautiful combination back then with this and the unforgettable Jessica.
Chuck can sure tickle those ivories..

Wish I had my feet under her table and little child on my knee!!!
Boy am I glad Ed got me on to YouTube this morning. It led me to Highway Call. Has anyone heard a more beautiful piano solo than in that tune? If so I'd sure like to hear it. Don't know if I've heard a more beautifu song PERIOD. Those lyrics - Dickey just puts up those simple images and let's your mind and heart go to work. Masterful piece.
Great video, Ed! MORE! MORE!
Thanks for the great video Ed. I posted it on Dickey's Fan Page on Facebook and people are loving it. https://www.facebook.com/groups/139171316244192/309680545859934/?notif_t=like
Thunderbird.
Here's a great radio interview with Duane Betts by everybody's friend, Michael Buffalo. Can't remember if I just tripped up on this or whether somebody else posted it but it's really good.

Meds must have kicked in. WELCOME BACK WALTER!
I know the real Walter knew better than to make insulting remarks about the Allman Brothers Band from here, our place of peace and tranquility, especially in the context of "Dickey versus the ABB". The real Walter knows that kind of lame attitude is a thing of the past. Right? I mean, especially after all the sermons he preached about peace and love from this very same spot!
I forgive you.
Glad you enjoyed that review as much as I did, dobro. Dickey and the boys really seem to be on their game these days. The talent in that little outfit is a freakshow. I'd just about kill to see either the Groove Kings or Brethren of the Coast. In fact, if you're really going to get to see the giant talent of Duane and Pedro, you've got to see BOTC, so you can see how Pedro can shred lead and slide guitar and get the full scope of Duane's repertoire. Can't wait to get my hands on a great quality studio recording of these guys!
