Jonesy, I have no doubt that the members of Allman Mule Truck will continue to perform with one another in guest appearances and maybe even reform occasionally as Allman Mule Truck at festivals and so forth. However, these last shows are being advertised as farewell shows and to pay homage to the Allman Brothers Band, which doesn't exist without Dickey Betts in the first place. So out of respect for thinking people who recognize that fact and in order to properly pay tribute to the institution known as the Allman Brothers Band which has been most closely represented by the music of Dickey Betts and Great Southern since the breakup, Dickey should be included in one or more of these performances. So I agree with Warren Haynes on that and I believe Derek Trucks has expressed those same sentiments.
"1) none of those guys owe us anything
2) their private lives and relationships with one another have nothing to do with neither the fans nor respect
3) you're not holding a ticket to these alleged last shows anyhow"
I agree with this, particulary the last statement and the term "alleged". I don't believe these shows will be the end of the ABB. Only this incarnation.
Probably as far as Betts is concerned, the band ended when he was no longer with them. If i recall, he even commented back then that if they wanted to boot him, why not have a farewell tour.

Warren Haynes interview - re Dickey at the very end. Very good interview.

Can Butch, Gregg, Jaimoe, and Dickey please bury the hatchet for at least one night and do something to truly respect the fans as well as the institutional legacy of the Allman Brothers Band?
