I'm sure by now you've read some of the Jambase comments from the Beacon show. Let me just say it was great to be back at the Beacon and to see Dickey on that stage again. For me, it was never about the price of the ticket or getting my money's worth. I set my expectations for that show a long time ago. I was hoping for the best but was prepared for the worst. Devon and Duane were outstanding and blew me away. They played a blistering version of Dreams and I can't wait to see them this Thurs. MTB was exactly what I expected. I knew Doug's voice was gone but the band is very tight. Last but not least, I love Dickey Betts and as far as his performance at the Beacon goes, all I can say is it was a challenge for a variety of reasons. I'll remember the decades of great performances with and without the Brothers. I'm going to skip the NY State Fair show. I doubt I'll see him again but I'll listen to him play and sing until the day I die. As a side note, Duane's guitar playing is a force to be reckoned with and I'm so proud of him and Devon for keeping the music alive and well. See you guys Thursday.
