Good Evening Brothers and Sisters, Merry Christmas all. I just flashed back 19 years ago tomorrow.....Gregg Allman and Friends at the VanWezel (?) in Sarasota Florida December 26th, 1996. I think it was Gregg's first show sober. He looked scared shitless and must have weighed in at about 250. Nonetheless, it was a great show. Jimmy Hall shared vocals with Greg and he had a belt full of harmonica's that he used with authority. I'm pretty sure Thom Duchette sat in as well. As I recall there was a full moon over the Gulf, a beautiful night. The best part though was at the end when Greg talked a bit about music and the "business." He said something to the effect that it's rife with "friends that come and go" but there was one guy who was probably his best friend who he would like to introduce... Dickey Betts! With that they launched into a killer version of "One Way Out." Have a great 2016 everyone. I'm still hoping Dickey wakes up one day soon, calls Duane and Pedro and the rest of GS and says .. "lets go play some music.!" KLBazur "Dickey?....Dickey Betts is as bad as bad can be." Duane Allman, radio interview, 1971.
