It was a Sunday, sunny alittle cold. First time I had been to the Nautica. It is not very big but the view is killer. Anyway they have three bleachers set up at the back of the "seating area". We were at the top of the middle one. Facing the stage, to our right there is a walk way for the performers to walk from the buses to the side stage tents. Our vision was obscured by a fence that seperated walk way from the "seating area Well I saw this beautiful white hat bobbing up and down the walk way. I kept my eye on the hat as it meandered through the side stage tents. And sure enough minutes later
the old man walked out onto the stage and gave us a real good one hour set. It was the first time we saw him since his last Beacon run. Well of course we wanted to try and seen him walk back to the buses. So we went over to the righthand bleacher. And if you walked up to the top row you could see into the walk way. We were directly above it. Well I could see hat again in the dining tent. Well 38. Special came out, so my friends and I were watching the stage. And then I herd footsteps, I said hey to my guys and then he emerged form the tents. He was talking with some guy in a suit. He was just ten feet below us. We were all stunned. It was him Richard Forrest Betts.I screamed "Dickey" and he turned around and gave us a smile and a wave. It was an incredible moment.
