I was in Kindergarten...11/22/1963 In thoose days it was a half a day...I road the school bus and it dropped us off around noon... All the moms in the neighborhood were crying and it was strange...then we were told the president had been killed. I was only 5 at the time but I remember it quite vividly.

"Seems like this country lost it's "innocence" in the 60's. Lot of killings and we were shocked by it all. These days...not so much... God Bless the people of that era who had the courage to stand up and make the changes that we all needed even though it cost them their lifes..." Amen, John, amen! This 24/7 instant access to anything and just about everything does have many advantages I can't see living without, but it's also hurt many, many aspects of our lives, too, in my opinion. People used to call my father "Mr. Kennedy" because he could resemble JFK when he put his dark suit on. I still have the November 29, 1963, and December 6, 1963, editions of "LIFE" magazine and the December 3, 1963, edition of "LOOK" magazine--both devoted to JFK. My parents had saved these and I tried to sell them on eBay a few years ago and got nary a nibble...

I'm just a little west of you. I was born in NY, however have spent the greater part of my life in LA....errr .....Lovely Aiken.... BlueDad...not just NY, but beautiful LawnGuyLand! We were driving way out to Manorville this weekend, via the Long Island Expressway, and observed that years ago, there were almost no cars after exit 50, but now we were almost to the end of the expressway, and it was still crowded. LI has had some population boom over the years. Mitch

Good Morning Brothers and Sisters, Back on the island the natives called Manahatta...Yeah I was thinking about JFK yesterday. Brings to mind the poem by Whittier, "The saddest words of mouth or pen are these: What might have been." This is true for Duane and Jimi and all those who passed too soon as well. That being said I think "we lost our innocence" way before JFK. Have a safe Thanksgiving holiday all. See you at the show on the 29th of Jan. in NYC......Yeeee-haaaa! KLBazur

Novemeber 22, 1963... Sitting in class..1st grade..Miss Hickson's class. The principal, Robert Neidich came over the loudspeaker and said "President Kennedy has been shot". It seems like no time after that announcement he came back on and said ,"President Kennedy is dead".... Mrs. Hickson burst into tears and the teachers were going from classroom to classroom crying and consoling each other. I really didn't understand it being so young..... School ws dismissed and my aunt and uncle came to pick me and my cousin up. My aunt was crying very silently. My uncle was very strong..... Remember watching the news reports and then Lee Harvey Oswald was killed..... There have not been many books about JFK written that I have not read. A real trying event in my childhood. Pretty much anyone that has been asked where they were when the president was killed knows where, and what they were doing. Seems like this country lost it's "innocence" in the 60's. Lot of killings and we were shocked by it all. These days...not so much...:( God Bless the people of that era who had the courage to stand up and make the changes that we all needed even though it cost them their lifes...

Good Morning.. :sunny: Been doing some catch up reading here... In light of Red Dog's post in re: to Jane Fonda.. I have changed my avatar.. I been meaning to it for some time.. long gone are the days of Barbarella.. she was politically wrong back then to such a huge degree of magnitude and proportions.... shameful. Also, on JFK assassination , I was actually home from school sick that day.. and it came on the TV... shocking.. we were in front of the TV for 3 days.. watching the same footage over and over again...wide eyed, crying and in disbelief.. I am happy you had a good day in the park :dog: Joseph.. Lizzie, still working on tickets. I have thrown back a few.. I know this theater and where the bad seats are.. so I am hoping for something better than what is coming at me... In the event I have to take them.. I will.. :waving:

I was fortunate enough to have met and partied with Woody back in 1989 1990... he was a fine man, with Lots of Love for everyone he met... Like Toy and Norton, he will never be forgotten by this old cowboy and now ith apologies to Dickey for getting political in his "website living room" but I know he would not mind... and for Red Dogs sake I wont take it to the forum... I just saw some FACTS on how those making over 250K annually have realized some 200+ % increase in income these past 25-30 years (trickle down) whilst those of us (99%) who make under 250+ have pretty much remained stable or "lost ground" during the same period So the question is: should the bush tax cuts be extended for EVERYONE?
