I'll second the notion of a Dickey acoustic tour...even it is a solo with just the cat in the hat...Here in New Orleans we have many great venues for intimate one man shows...and we are always havin a good time down on the bayou...lord.

Special moment last night.
My wife's aunt and her daughter and her little boy have been down here for a few day's.Last Fri was his 5'th birthday ,& we had a little party for him.
Yesterday afternoon i was down at the store gettin some thing's for supper. And i thought ,,,man let's have another party kind of sort's for the little fella. So i bought him some cup cakes with tye dye icing,a t shirt with a motorcycle on it that said King of the Road ,& a head light. He's always talkin bout my bike and the head lamp i put on at night when i'm out on the property.
I got a fire goin for him last night after supper,& he came out and we were throwin twigs with leaves on the fire ,listenin to it crackle etc. Then it started drizzlin rain.I went into the shed and q'd up the turntable.Just so happened Dickey's Highway Call album was on.Needless to say after Long Time Gone,,,,RAIN came on.Man that little fella was havin the time of his life. And my mind was ramblin the cosmos as well.Thinkin bout daze of old etc. Then Highway Call came on.And buddy when Betts sang the lines about,,,,Sometimes i feel so all alone. That ain't no place to be.I wish i had my feet under a table,,,a little child on my knee.....WOW!emotion's and spirit's started trailin all over the place.
Tattoo Neil,Savanah,Musgrave,Red Dog & a host of other ol road hound's have got laidback in that old shed.
Thank you from the heart to Betts for his spirit & sharing his gift's with us thru the years:bike:
One of my favorite boots, ie traded-for show, is 4/28/85, My Father's Place, NY -- cassette :hippie: :guitar:
The version of The Preacher from this show is hands down my favorite ever -- if you could see music, this is what you'd see in the dictionary under "Western swing" -- they start the show with it & it's an awesome tape
I love it! Am very happy this Site has righted the ship sort of speaking...
I would like to start a thread consideration that has not been around here for quite some time; that is sharing of music. Anyone have any Betts music that is rare or ??? they wish to share??? That would be cool to kick off this new baby of a Site.
Red Dog is smiling. I can feel it in my bones.

Yes peachmaniac, that would've been at Holman Stadium in Nashua -- didn't make that show!!
Btw, do you recall if Marc was in the band by then? Am thinking it was after Johnny N's tenure...
as always Rainy those vids rock -- that kind of Pony Boy/Willie & Po' Bob (from Collectors) acoustic playing, is soo tops
Anyone near Philly.. please PM me regarding potential Venues, thanks
Happy Monday.... hope it ain't a stormy one

I wish Dickey would do a solo acoustic tour! One of my favorite Dickey moments was around 1991 in Nashua NH Dickey doing an acoustic set in the middle of the show and they did Pony Boy! Would love to hear this again!
Very happy about the intervention on this site. 🙂
🙂 Feels good to check on the GB of my favorite guitar player :guitarist: and not have to cringe at the thought of what might be posted 😮
Mitch ..yep , I missed you too and DBGS.. hopefully we will get the chance to meet up at another show, fingers crossed..
It's a Blue Sky day ...

Congrats to Dan, Capn and Bird72. I am glad you were chosen, as I believe you have the wisdom to do a good job.
Rainy, thanks for the pictures. I missed you at the last LI concert.
Mitch
Bird and Capn just about says it all for me too. In the past I have gone over the edge a number of times on one individual. The 3 of us will do the best of our ability and hopefully we will get back to normal. I think between the 3 of us we should consult on questionable posts. As for Jim I did give Adam my take on Jim . I consider Jim a friend going past 10 years now. And yes it is an honor to be asked to moderate my home away from home site.
Dan
Hey all. I am honored and surprised at being asked to be a MOD. I didn't ask, and after being blunt to say the least on the prior (yes, prior) state of this site, it surprised me being asked.
Adam, the site administrator, listened to everyone, and really wants to do the good thing for this place and Dickey Betts. It is my task to be neutral, fair, not overbearing, and respectful. It is very simple to me. People should not be allowed to attack others personally. Feuds should not be allowed. While free speech is allowed on opinions, when a person goes on a mission to disrespect the purpose of this site, Dickey Betts, then I see it as a site administrator issue I will forward upward. I hope to really never delete posts.
So here is to a real great opportunity at a site without personal wars. A site for music. A site with respect. A site with you know, like Duane and Dickey intended in 1969... brotherhood. They didn't start a group based on animosity, past travesties, judgements of anger, it was about feeling good and treating poeple right. Happy Saturday and onward.....
