Dickey Betts

Dickey Betts announced today, on his birthday, December 12, that he will return to the road for a select group of dates in 2018.

As reported in an exclusive interview in the Sarasota Herald Tribune, Dickey said “Everywhere I go fans keep saying they want me to get out and play again … I think the time is right.”

The 2018 concert dates will feature Betts peppering his setlists with songs written by Gregg Allman, whose credits include “Midnight Rider,” “Melissa” and “Whipping Post.” The 23-minute live version of “Whipping Post” from the Allman Brothers Band’s masterful, breakthrough album “At Fillmore East” famously features the dual lead guitar playing of Betts and Duane Allman.
“I think the fans deserve to hear a few of Gregg’s song as well, so I’m pulling out some classics,” Betts said.

“We really gave this a lot of thought as to how and what the show will be,” Spero said. “Even I can’t wait to see it.”

The Dickey Betts Band hitting the road in 2018 will consist of Dickey and son Duane sharing lead guitar duties.

“Dickey is talking to some of the guys he has played with,” Spero said. “We should know in a couple of weeks who will comprise the band.”

    Dickey –

Fantastic!…Kick it off as you see fit…and do it your way…the best/Betts way…fans like me will follow this tour as you see it regardless (but…if you could see it in your heart – how about starting it here in your/own hometown of Sarasota, FL?)..just a thought, but to have you back is great.

So happy to have you back in our lives.

You are the Betts! – and can’t wait to see you and your son Duane dueling together in unison, along with Allmann sounds, and of course Great Southern.

    Bourganveilla to all.

    Welcome back and thank you.

    Regards,

Sitting here feeling sad again about losing Gregg, listening to Melissa live. Gregg and I share Dec. 8 for our birthdays, then I see yours is Dec. 12, Happy Birthday, Mr. Betts. You are the best guitarist ever, no one can make that guitar touch my heart like you can. I saw tonight you’re going to tour in 2018, I’m so excited! I have to see you play! I’m in Eustis, Lake County, Florida, I hope to see you around Central Florida..❤️

Pittsburgh is a great classic rock market and has always strongly supported the Betts / Brothers shows. Hope to hear Liz Reed, Blue Sky and lots of others here in 2018. This is awesome news!!!

I couldn’t agree with you more! If the AMP doesn’t happen, you know he’ll play in Memphis. No matter what, this tour is great news! BTW, it’s good to know there’s another long time fan in NWA!
